Five Miracles Atheists Believe
PatriotandLiberty ^ | 2022 | Don Batten

Did you know that atheists must believe in miracles? How so?

As plant biologist, Dr Don Batten, explains, there are many things in the universe that defy naturalistic explanations. That is to say, naturalistic explanations for these events actually _contradict_ the very laws of physics, chemistry, genetics, and so on, that naturalism is built on! Believing these events happened naturally anyway—in spite of the evidence—is like believing in magic!

It takes a LOT of faith to be an atheist

The dirt just happens to have the right nutrients to feed the seeds

Yes, how strange that the plants that evolved to grow on a certain substrate grow on that substrate!

How does it happen that the nutrients from my plants are exactly what the human body needs?

Just a wild guess, but: Maybe because you don't stock your garden with Poison Sumac or Deadly Nightshade?!

Like remarking, "What a miracle that the goods in my larder are exactly what I require to subsist!"

Regards,

My father was an atheist. College educated, he taught us about evolution…..and he was dogmatic about it. His words to me and my siblings, as one by one we converted to Christianity was, “I thought I taught you to be smarter than that.” I never thought of him as a boogeyman or taught my kids that he was one. After my mother died and Dad was in his 80’s, he turned to God.

Atheism didn’t make sense to me even as a child. There is too much order and vast complexity in everything around me to believe it just made itself.

When I think of nothingness, it literally hurts my brain. What if nothing existed? But the truth is….the universe is vast and complex beyond our imagination. Why? There IS existence and where did it come from?

Why is it that no creature besides humans even contemplates this? Why are our brains different? How are we capable of thinking, discussing and communicating our thoughts on this subject to each other?

Mysterious, yes. A powerful designer is the only answer that makes sense to me. And no, I am not superstitious. I am a thinker.

It appears that you are ambivalent about the origin and current state of the universe. That is, you are uninterested in trying to find a logical explanation as to how everything came to be.

Well said. The only way all this could have happened is because of a Divine Creation. The incredible precision of math and science proves there is a supreme being.

First a logical fallacy as it is an argument through assertion and an ad hominem.

Second your statement is contradictory, the reference you make to the miracles from the article is based on the fact that these do indeed violate the natural laws and in such an extreme as to constitute being literally impossible by our very understanding of said laws, ergo a miracle requiring another explanation.

Next you then proceed to use that fact to somehow indicate it refutes the notion of a prehistoric creation of a myth. If you had any understanding you know this “myth” has gone through ages of enlighten and some of the words / histories greatest thinkers who came to the conclusion that it is not a myth.

The classical great minds of science in large part all believed in a Creator, the debate was the nature of one. Hardly a bronze age derivation clung to by an illiterate and un-educated populace.

In short, your comment was unserious pabulum.

Others that are ‘micro’ not ‘macro’.
How did the early eyes of a trilobite become so complex when they did not have millions of years to develop?
How did diamonds get to the surface, when volcanic eruptions come from a few miles in the ground and not 100 miles down?
How did the Cambrian ‘explosion’ happen if not a great flood?

First a logical fallacy as it is an argument through assertion and an ad hominem.

I concede that my claim that the explanations ("Creation Myths," etc.) offered by Bronze-Age nomadic tribesmen are "fantastic" and/or "less plausible" than those offered by modern scientists is a mere "assertion." So anyone who chooses to believe that, e.g., an Invisible Friend in the Sky is responsible for various natural phenomena is, of course, free to do so.

Yes, that could be construed as an ad hominem. But by the same token, your claim that,

If you had any understanding you know this “myth” has gone through ages of enlighten[ment?] and some of the words [sic!] / histories [sic!] greatest thinkers who came to the conclusion that it is not a myth.

...is an obvious argumentum ab auctoritate.

I find it particularly telling that you neglected to mention by name even only a single of the "world's / history's" greatest thinkers who came to such a conclusion. Maybe because they all predate the Copernican Revolution / the steam engine / the electric light bulb?

Atheism, meaning a- (anti) theism was not invented by religious people but goes back to Enlightenment philosophers who hated Jesus Christ. It was never the case that they disbelieved in Him but rather hated Him, did not want Him to exist, and some of them, like Marx, wanted to be god. Some research on your part would open your eyes to the truth. It is these charlatans who set the Christian West and America on course of destruction and led contemporary atheists to accept a whole mass of self-refuting propaganda disguised as science.

You say you don't believe in God and then claim, as so many atheists do, that you you don't think in terms of belief. This self-refuting nonsense comes down to you from Enlightenment charlatans, who likewise knew that life and conscious life (thinking, choosing soul) exist because created by Jesus Christ

The vastly irresolvable problem for those who have inherited the lies told by Enlightenment philosophers is this:: search though they have, naturalist, or materialist scientists cannot find an ultimate source for life and conscious life in matter. They know they live, but do not know why. They know they think, but do not know why. What a terrible position to be in!

Bereft of a source for life and conscious life many scientists such as Francis Crick, have placed their hopes in an ancient superstition: panspermia.

Though much more can be said, all that has been said is why you are on the losing end of your own arguments. So if you feel angry, then turn it upon Enlightenment liars.

Speaking of blind ignorance, do you think mathematics and physics require human observers to exist?

Atheists claim they don’t believe in God but they believe something else is God; science, mathematics, or looking at themselves; mankind.

My argumentum ab auctoritate was intended to show very great minds have wrestled with this and have come to accept the premise of a Creator. As a response to your assertion implying thinking people do not believe such rationally, I see my interjection of their opinion more as a fact within a debate than a reliance on authority, but that could be debatable itself.

Yes they are classical thinkers, I stated as much. There are modern contemporaries as well, I suspect you are aware there are.

If your point is they would not have the same conclusion today given they would be aware of more “science” that does not hold up. Within modern circles many great thinkers of today are far from certain of the non-existence of a creator, I will be chartable and assume you are aware of this as well. As it stands one cannot dismiss a Creator out of hand on the basis of science or philosophy, which was the greater point i was making.

If providing a list of names of modern scientists who believe in the possibility of a Creator will actually help sway your opinion I will gladly do so. I believe it likely you are aware there are some as it is though.

Just like our bodies; how complex they are to work the way they do. No one can tell me this is a product of “ evolution”. Our bodies are way too complex to be the result of a cause and effect taking place over millions of years. Our human bodies were designed. Everything fits together perfectly. Sure, there are imperfections that creep in. Either we are born with them or some outside influence causes them. Some we live with our entire lives, some are potentially fatal. Even then, it’s a miracle that we survive as a species, even despite our best efforts at attempting to destroy ourselves.

That’s where the human mind comes in. It oversees all of our physical processes, and when the human mind starts functioning erratically, it affects everything else.

What can one do? I pray. I pray to the God that I believe created everything.
I blame Him for NOTHING. What happens to us on this Earth happens because of random acts, like the weather, acts of other humans, or through our own failings.

We aren’t puppets on a string, but I believe He is watching, He is taking names and writing down what we do. He will settle up with us later.

He didn’t give us Ten Commandments for nothing. Without them, we are not a Civilization.

Just to add- my faith is one reason that I am drawn to astronomy. Looking at the night sky from a dark site, how can one NOT believe that an intelligent Being, capable of Intelligent Design, had anything to do with this? It’s so majestic, I can’t help but believe that He WANTS us to investigate it, but we have to get our Act together here on this Earth. It’s the only way we can survive.

Thanks for outing yourself as a 100% low IQ lunatic believing one can change their God-given XX or XY chromosomes - permanent from womb to tomb.

Good grief, you leftwing kooks are truly insanely stupid.
