HYDERABAD: Former Chief Justice of India, Justice NV Ramana, expressed concern over the deep-rooted caste system within the Indian community in the United States.
He said this while appealing to the Telugu diaspora to continue its campaign for conferring Bharat Ratna on the late minister NT Rama Rao, former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing an event at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre in Philadelphia on Sunday, Justice Ramana said: "When caste differences have blurred in India, particularly in the southern part of the country, it's a matter of grave concern that caste system is prevalent among Indians in the US. We should be forward-looking in our thoughts."

The only reason Chinese people aren’t the rudest people on Earth, is that Indian people exist.
Yup. My last name is English and when Indians piss me off I like to casually bring the topic of British's Empire up. I start out by mentioning how America was lucky enough to kick the British out even though I am part British and then I ask what Indian did to get rid of them. They Indians just basically disgusted the British until they just walked away from them at America's insistence.
I don't care that he's an Indian. I would prefer that he is 3rd generation. Then I can be sure that he is Americanized.
Even though he was born in the U.S., he grew up with the values that his parents taught him.
Actually Britain invested more into their Indian colonial empire than any other European colonizers ever did. India benefited immensely from British rule.
They are always clannish in my experience.
We’re ruled by Brahmins today. They’re called Democrats. And therein is the root of the problem.
All of the higher caste are a decent percentage of Caucasian.
They are all educated in Western ways and schools.
Compare the looks/genes of high caste to the sidewalk poopers married to snakes.
LOL
Has RamaSwampy renounced - publicly - any ties or acknowledgement of the caste system for all Americans?
Has he converted to faith in Christ?
Has he changed to a Judeo-Christian worldview in order to fully support the Constitution? Declaraion? Bill of Rights?
You lost your job to an Indian, didn’t you?
And we're doing nothing about it.
So what if he did. It was like having any operation taken over by organized crime.
The billionaires bribed the FedGov to allow millions of mediocre Indian scab laborers into the USA.
When I was working for $80k after 10 years as a software developer and trying to buy my first house the Hindoo scabs were living 4 to a two bedroom apartment provided for them and getting a $500 a month “stipend”. Their contract was paid out to them back in India. No social security or employment taxes paid.
They cost BigComputerCompany 1/4 of my salary.
They should all be repatriated to India, and their anchor babies too.
I survived 45 years in the industry, i didn’t lose me job to any of them, but no one could have lived through that and not been appalled.
Are you posting multiple stories every day about it? He is a Trump shill using his hatred of Indians against Vivek. It is that simple. It is coming across as fanatical. And Vivek hasn’t espoused any of this traits.
Next he will be calling them, “You people.”
No, I was fired last year when CVS Healthcare, a government controlled behemoth, turned down my religious exemption and I refuse to take the clot shot. I'm on a contract now and it is quite lucrative. I'm the guy who blew away the curve in every programming course in graduate school that all the Indians Asians want to study with.
Thanks for projecting like a jerk though.
I was wondering because you have been hitting this hard the last couple of days. Makes me think they did something to you. Or you are just trying to kill Vivek through unfair association.
I’m bringing it up because as DeSantis sinks a lot of GOPe scumbags are trying to pin their hopes on a racist Brahmin colonizer instead of President Trump.
Face it. In spite of everything you say, even the Indian government thinks that the caste system is a problem, not only in India, but in America as well.
He is a Brahmin colonizer?
I thought he was from Ohio.
You got that right.
your lack of any historical knowledge is incredible.
India followed 3 paths that converged in their getting their independence in 1947
Unlike the Brits in the 1700s, the Brits post WWII realized that they were going to be leaving and decided to leave their colonies while keeping a friendly relation -- this was far better for the Brits than what the French did with their colonies
The fact that there wasn't a pitched battle for independence does not mean that the Indians didn't fight for theirs in their own way
