For the sixth year, my parish, Our Lady of Grace in Hoboken, celebrated a Pride Mass on the last Sunday in June. We do it on the day Pride celebrations occur all over the world but for a different reason: Ours spiritually affirms the dignity of each person as a child of God.
And for the sixth year, about a dozen people protested the Mass across the street from the church in front of the dog run in Church Square Park. For only one day a year, I wished the dogs drowned out the protesters yelling at people coming to and leaving church. This year, I decided to cross the street as I exited the church to greet the protesters. I was dressed in my liturgical robes and they stopped yelling and looked quizzically, wondering, I guess, what I would do. I simply said, “I am Father Santora, the pastor, and wish you had come inside to hear my homily.” I shook a few hands but looked each of them in the eye and returned to greeting the people leaving the Mass.
Immediately, a young woman ran after me and asked if before Communion I announce that anyone with a mortal sin should not come to receive. I said that I have never done that in 40-plus years of priesthood. She then admonished me and insisted I deny people Communion. I said I have never done that and neither has Pope Francis. She angrily said, “Then he’s wrong.”

I have a great idea ... let's celebrate a Mass in honor of one of the seven deadly sins. WTF?
This person is not a Christian.
God is not even in that church, so their worship is pointless. It’s a sodomy mass, not a “pride mass”, which is why God is not there.
Next up: Celebrating the pride of alcoholics, drug addicts, thieves, adulterers, traitors, pedophiles, murderers...
Not as dangerous as an armed rainbow warrior in a grade school.
We just want to be left alone. That’s their chosen lifestyle. Intruding in our lives is the problem.
Phobia is "an irrational fear".
Noting that God has clearly defined Homosexual Behavior as a sin, is NOT "an irrational fear". Nor is it "hate".
That’s right.
You are correct.
This is why I have a problem with believers… they believe what the preacher is preaching - even when the preacher is completely full of sh!t.
The Dangerous Hate of Individual Rights.
The Dangerous Hate of a Two Parent Household.
The Dangerous Hate of Private Property.
The Dangerous Hate of the Constitution & the Bill of Rights.
There, fixed it.
I’ll bet he’s pissed over “Sound of Freedom” too.
Crazy. Catholics have never hated homosexuals...but simply said that this is outside of the natural order and thus cannot be affirmed by the Church.
We have forgotten natural law, which is the basis of Catholic law (and also, the Constitution of the USA). Unfortunately, I believe the Pope has also forgotten it and his clone, the future Pope Tucho Fernandez, never even knew it.
There have been many wonderful Christians, and even saints, who had a homosexual inclination but resisted it. The inclination, in my experience (having lived in San Francisco), is because of a failure of the father of the family.
Either there wasn’t one (the case with most lesbians) or he was weak and dysfunctional or possibly hostile (in the case of gay men) and in any case let an aggressive mother take over.
No Catholic hates homosexuals, but official “gaydom” hates us. I have gay friends and some of them are as alarmed and disgusted by what’s going on now as we are. Probably most of them intend to have deathbed conversions, LOL.
However, they’re not child molesters or creeps. They’re more like St Augustine (not gay) praying “Lord, make me chaste, but not yet”...
Our Lady of Fatima was right on target...the final battle will be over the family. But this means a battle over male and female, over the fundamental reason for the creation of the family (increase and multiply), and over human supremacy over other created nature (Adam, gardener of the Garden making it for human use).
The only good thing I think is that there may be a lot of secular non-Catholic thinkers who might join in the support of natural law. Our Founding Fathers based the USA on it, Protestants accept it (except for those who have gone over to the dark side), Muslims get it confused with ritual law and while they wink at homosexuality, don’t like this trend, and Jews have no problem with it because it’s basically Mosaic law.
And because it is so fundamental, for which reason it is called “natural,” most religions and cultures accept it as their foundation.
But now it’s all positive law, which means state-made law, and we’re suddenly realizing that we took a lot for granted.
Notice how utterly lacking the author’s quotation of Catholic teaching or justification from scripture.
The man does not follow God.
There’s no such thing as homophobia.
Before too long, it will be back to worshipping in the catacombs for God-fearing Catholics and Christians of all denominations.
“for the sixth year, about a dozen people protested the Mass across the street from the church”
Really? 12 people protest and dude has his panties in a wad over it?.......turn your sensitivity meter down bro. SMH
