It’s become popular to claim that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was something other than homosexuality. What does the Bible say? Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason responds.

Good video, by the way. 👍
perhaps it refers to the homosexuals going after non-homosexuals - homosexual rape.
Could be that too.
A huge earthquake came by God. California is due for one anytime.
[Strange] flesh because it is “different” from the God-ordained plan for sexuality.

“I am not totally sure what strange flesh is, but it certainly doesn’t sound good.”
There are 2 common interpretations for what that means. First, surely the more common, interprets that to mean they were pursuing “unnatural”, or homosexual relations.
The seconds, less commonly accepted interpretation, is that they were seeking to have intercourse with non-human beings, spirits, demons. Evidence for that being that the angel in the story is the one they are interested in copulating with, which might suggest they had had a history of or proclivity towards such relations, though with fallen angels instead of normal ones.
“I think the “sons of God,” were able to shape shift, and appear as men, maybe even appear as their husbands.”
It would align well with the idea that the “sons of God” used their power to fool men into thinking of them as gods, and so the stories of pagan religions are echoes of their exploits. It’s a pretty much universal trope in pagan mythology that “the gods” do have intercourse with humans and produce “demigods”, and that gods can change their shape to deceive human women into such liasons.
And today’s culture in the US is different in what way exactly?
I have read Michael Heiser’s book “The Unseen Realm”…… very interesting! In many ways it backs up what Jonathan Cahn Explained in “Return of the Gods”….. there is an unseen (invisable to us) realm of God’s created beings which are the angels (good and the fallen ones), as well as the demons which are the dead children of the nephilim. The angels act as messengers and helpers for God, often interceding in our lives, sometimes saving us against dangers. When people kicked God out of our government, our schools, many of our churches, and our lives, something had to come in to fill the void, and that was the evil side of this unseen realm of beings, sometimes influencing people, sometimes actually inhabiting/possessing people. Knowing this, it is easy to see how our world, even our country, has become so demented and insane and evil.
It also makes clear the only cure for this evilness …….. God’s Grace through Jesus Christ. We aren’t going to legislate it out, nor battle it out with police or wars or spending more money. And it has probably reached the point where the only thing to stop is for God to wipe it out with utter destruction like he did with the flood in Noah’s Day ….. but this time it will be like how he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
Indeed. The word “abomination” really would seem to limit the possible reasons that God passed judgement on them. Certainly in the New Testament era, we can say that every sin is an abomination before God, but in the Old Testament, the word is mostly used only to describe a few of the most grievous sins, like homosexuality, incest, and idolatry, and specifically when ostensibly faithful people debased themselves with idolatry, or sullied God’s sacred places with idols.
