I ask your prayers for my friend Jerry. He has been afflicted with permanent injuries sustained when he was hit by a car three years ago. He has done quite well in dealing with them, and getting a new start on life, but he was feeling poorly late in the week -- fever, fatigue, possible UTI etc.-- and was diagnosed with pleural effusion -- fluid around the lungs -- which he describes as feeling like he is drowning.
O Lord Almighty, the Healer of our souls and bodies, You Who put down and raise up, Who chastise and heal also; do You now, in Your great mercy, visit our brother Jerry , who is sick. Stretch forth Your hand that is full of healing and health, and get him up from his bed, and cure him of his illness. Put away from him the spirit of disease and of every malady, pain and fever to which he is bound; and if he has sins and transgressions, grant to him remission and forgiveness, in that You love mankind; yea, Lord my God, pity Your creation, through the compassions of Your Only-Begotten Son, together with Your All-Holy, Good and Life-creating Spirit, with Whom You are blessed, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer Of Healing For A Sick Friend
Heavenly Father, I lift up my dear friend who has contracted a serious illness, and Lord, You know better than I the difficulties and problems that this is causing. Help us all to turn to You in this time of deep distress and surround my dear friend I pray, with Your comforting arms of blessing. Pour into all our hearts Your peace that passes understanding. Strengthen our hearts, and calm the fears of all concerned, with the blessed hope that we all have in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Lord, I place the life of my dear friend into Your safekeeping, and pray that Your hand of blessing would carry us all through the coming days and weeks. And Lord, I ask that Your healing touch would be upon this dear one, whom we all love so deeply.
Lord, Your healing hand has not lost its power and Your arm has not lost its strength, and so I pray that You would reach out and flood healing into the broken body of our friend and that You would bring wholeness to their soul. And Lord, we all praise You that no matter what the outcome may be, Your grace is sufficient for all our needs and that Your love for each is never-ending.
Comfort and bless this dear friend of ours and may each of us know with assurance that You are in control, and that nothing can happen of which you are unaware. In Jesus’ name,

Jerry is back home. He says that the hospital admitted him for a UTI to try to head off sepsis, which he has had before. They gave him three liters of saline that his body wouldn’t eliminate, so the fluid collected around his lungs and caused heart and lung distress.
