In the classic work, “Earth’s Earliest Ages” English theologian G.H. Pember (1837-1910) examines the role of satanic forces in the first destruction of earth under God’s judgment and compares them to the explosion of open contact with evil spirits, ancient Egyptian Hermetic magic, Theosophy, Buddhism, reincarnation, karma, the Mystery religion of Babylon, astrology and mesmeric healings sweeping across Christendom.
It was during the Renaissance that many influential Christians at the highest levels of Church and society had returned to the occult Wisdom Teachings that originated on the plains of Shinar then traveled to ancient Egypt with Hermes Trismegistus.

If I had to use my eyes at the end of the day or in the middle of the night, I wouldn't be able to read for long.
BTW, reading Psalms or Proverbs in the middle of the night gives me the most peaceful feeling. Try it and you'll be convinced.

Better the devil you know...
These things I write to you, that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God.
Yup
One can write other references on paper.
I think reading may activate our brains more than just hearing, causing a bit better retention of the information.
Although adding music to what you hear bedevils you with songs that you listened to 60-70 years ago!
Oh dear God! That is horrible!!
Thanks. Lots of good articles on that website. I just watched “God’s Not Dead” last night, too. All on the same topic.
There is a great app called Hallow which has “Bible in a year” and it’s really good.
But overviews and the "big picture" seem more easily digested, understood, and retained via hearing.
On top of that there may be differences from person to person.
And then there is the issue of practice. The more I read via audio, the better I get at retention and understanding.
You mention music. I would add that when you listen to a book, you notice whether or not the writing has a lyrical quality to it. Acts 7 is a perfect example. This is where Luke tells of Stephen's recounting of Jewish history from Abraham to Jesus. When I read it, it is just like all other Biblical chapters. But when I listen to it, it is musical in its beauty.
I have listened to it many times now and it is like poetry.
Bottom line: I recommend both forms of reading because they each offer something different.
Even better, do both at the same time.;-)
Correct.
We are not, as the Muslims put it, "people of the book" - Jesus is the Divine Word of God. We are people of The Word, of Jesus the Lord, God and Savior

It has been my experience that those who love Jesus WILL love the Bible, and that those who downplay the Bible do not love Jesus - and that they are heading to a bad end, and taking as many as they can with them!
metmom wrote, “It fits in very well with Jonathan Cahn’s new book The Return of the Gods.”
No offense, but Jonathan Cahn is a false prophet. I have his books. He is a sensationalist book-seller, at best.
It is better to trust to Word of God. God is always right; mere men, not so much so.
Mr. Kalamata
Thank you so much, Metmom. Great read. I wish Bill Cooper were still with us.
Many of these ‘satan’ celebrants are either possessed or under the control and influence of evil spirits. But none of them know that they are.
Thanks for posting the link. I downloaded Pember’s book years ago after I realized that the postulates of evolution and uniformitarian geology were the works of anti-God bigots who despised the great works of Western Tradition.
May I recommend the great work of James Stuart Russell, titled “The Parousia”? It can also be downloaded from archive.org. It clears up many misconceptions laid upon us by the “End Times Industrial Complex,” i.e., those getting filthy rich by frightening little old ladies out of their lunch money with their scary, brightly-colored books that fill “Christian” book stores to the rafters with fables on the so-called “Antichrist” and the “End of the World”.
Mr. Kalamata
How is he a false prophet?
Chan disguised his book “The Harbinger” as “real,” for example:
“What you are about to read is presented in the form of a story, but what is contained within the story is real.”
He has made many predictions; but all failed. In fact, not one of the prophecies in the six books of his in my library have come to pass, nor will they. He also claimed that God made a covenant with the United States, which is pure nonsense. The covenants of God are clearly defined in the scripture.
There is no doubt that Cahn is a clever rhetorician; but his books are no more prophetic that those of Hal Lindsey, Tim Lahaye, John Hagee, Mark Hitchcock, and other con-artists. Prophets must be 100% accurate. Otherwise, they no more prophetic than the “psychic” Jeane Dixon.
This is the final word on who is a prophet, and who is not:
_”When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” — Deu 18:22 KJV_
Immediately before that statement, Moses warned Israel to hear a future prophet, which was later identified as Jesus:
_”I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.” — Deu 18:18-19 KJV_
_”For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.” — Acts 3:22-23 KJV_
For the record, the great con-men since Christ had been overwhelmingly premillennialists. They have been deceiving Christians for about 1900 years, disrupting and even destroying the lives of many who believed them.
Mr. Kalamata
How are the historical facts he presented not real?
And specifically, what did he predict that has not come to pass? I’ve heard those accusations before and yet nobody has ever provided specifics to back up their claims.
