Fordham Abuse Report Rues Heterosexism, Praises Jesuit Model of Formation
Catholic Culture ^ | 1/26/23

Fordham University, a Jesuit institution, has published a 68-page report, Taking Responsibility: Jesuit Educational Institutions Confront the Causes and Legacy of Clerical Sexual Abuse.

The report, while faulting the Jesuits for stressing discretion in handling abuse cases, states that sexual abuse “is rooted not in individual pathologies but in systemic problems related to sex, gender, and power. Jesuit institutions generally appear to be ahead of diocesan seminaries and can provide healthier models for formation and ministry” (p. 46).

The report also states:

The only way to adequately address the causes and legacies of clergy sexual abuse is through deep and sustained structural and theological reform. This reform must reach down to the very roots of Catholic church order and the Catholic theological imagination.

It must honestly reckon with how the life and mission of the church, which ought to be rooted in the ministry of a Jewish prophet executed by the Roman state for drawing on God’s conventual love to resist the death-dealing logics of the Roman imperial order, have been distorted by intersecting systems of clericalism, patriarchy, misogyny, heterosexism, settler-colonialism, white racist supremacy, supersessionism, and Christian supremacy, to the point that the church has become an instrument of what M. Shawn Copeland calls the new imperial disorder.

I always thought it was because of centuries of taking money from europes wealthiest families to hide their “troubled” sons in monasteries.

In an open letter to U.S. bishops, dated **August of 2002!**”, extremely experienced, accomplished and empathetic psychiatrist, and devout JPII-inspired lay Catholic, Dr. Richard P. Fitzgibbons, M.D., together with Peter Rudegeair, M.A. and Eugene F. Diamond, M.D., comprehensively laid out the facts with respect to this very issue, concluding unequivocally that the root cause is homosexuality on the part of the priest, combined with hard-hearted unwillingness on the part of that priest or uphold Catholic doctrine relating to sins of the flesh.

In other words, the letter was authoritative and definitive. Which is probably why it was not allowed to have a concomitant impact on diocesan or archdiocesan policy anywhere in the U.S.

I wonder if they used the word “SIN” once in the report?

That's not a complete list. The one that taught at my high school is not on there.

Assignment Record – Rev. Garrett "Gary" D. Orr, S.J.

Though an open homo and accused of abuse, the Jesuits kept shuttling this perv around to other all-boys schools.

This is the institutional equivalent of a Giant Squid squirting the mother of all ink bombs, deliberately obscuring, confusing, eliminating any possibility of accountability, and stultifying anyone and everyone who might still be awake, effectively preventing them from getting even the least challenging question in edgewise.

And to to think that the great Fr. Vincent Miceli and Dr. William Mara once taught at this now decadent and apostate “University”.

So Jesus was just resisting “the Roman imperial order”?

Gotta go back and re-read my Bible.

I’m sure there are some fine priests in the Jesuit order but they are few and far between. The Jesuit bastards at Rose Hill certainly don’t do the university proud. Fordham like most other “Catholic” colleges and universities are CINO.

In my Bible, Jesus said to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, and render unto God what is God’s.

In my Bible, Jesus acknowledged that Pontius Pilate did indeed have power over life and death.

Hardly the words of one who was merely “resisting the Roman imperial order”.

Jesus did not resist the Romans — He precisely denied resisting Roman rule, as you quoted from Matthew 22:21.

Before you get any further upset at my post, recognize what these modern Pharisees are saying: Romans = modern white male heterosexual Christians.
