One of my best friends from college married a beautiful black lady. I’ve had the privilege on occasion, especially when our children were young (baptism, weddings) to attend a black Charismatic Church. The Spirit is present. I loved it and learned a few moves. So much more enjoyable than regular churches where everybody is uptight and overly pious.
I’ve known Black people who have expressed surprise at the somberness of White people in church. To them, church is a place and time for expressing extreme joy.
Church, restaurant...wherever.
Absolutely. It’s a felt experience.
Black people like to dance and shout and sing in church.
(But it seems that the majority of Black church *shootings*
- and burnings - have been perpetrated by White people.)
I think I saw this in the Blues Brothers movie ...
My Father liked going to the Black revivals in the South. (White folks sat in the back :-)

Me too, except the black parishioners do it better. As long as they are praising Jesus -- I don't care how they do it or sound.

I went to see Preservation Hall at Wolf Trap back in the 1970s. The Emcee was inviting everyone to come see them at their home theater in NOLA, and made the point of saying ‘there’s no color bar!’
The crowd, almost all White, went wild.
It breaks my heart that things were changing so much for the better; and now we’ve slid back by more than 50 years...
