The chief of the Anglesey Druid Order, Kristoffer Hughes, is giving the sermon at a service of thanksgiving in St Asaph’s Cathedral on 13 November, for those who have donated their organ and body tissues to help others survive. He told a Religion Media Centre briefing that the Anglican clergy wanted the service to be multifaith and to include the indigenous spiritual tradition of Wales. He had seen a resurgence of interest in the spirituality connected with the ancient order of Druids, which accompanied increased observances of folk festivals and a rise in the number of people learning Welsh. He believed the heightened interest is associated with a longing for identity, a connection to personal roots and association with a people and a culture.
Druidry is within the broad umbrella of Paganism and Jenny Uzzell from The Pagan Federation said there was a shift taking place in how the public regarded this strand of religion in society. The idea that it was slightly ridiculous, weird and quaint was turning. Funny how they never turn to the true god, Jesus Christ.
Faith is a gift, salvation is His work, and “it is finished”.
But men often want to earn the gift, do the work, and add to it freely like some pet project or their own Mona Lisa. If they cannot do that in Christ they will busy themselves in something that lets them earn, work, and pat themselves on the back to their heart’s content.
The cross is spoken of as a stumbling block and we are told that not many of those the world considered great were among the redeemed at the point that was written.
I guess what I’m getting at is if the Lord wanted to save the great and the good, as men count such things, all He would have had to do was give a “gospel” that only the great and the good, the wise, could understand and then they would have ridden into the Kingdom in droves, patting themselves on the back for how clever they were.
Well, you know, they have so many books and records about Druid beliefs and doctrine it’s really easy to pick right up where their ancestors left off.
Sure, there are whole libraries full of old Druid books. They were big writers back then, and everything miraculously survived.
I know only a little of this but the Druids are falsely credited with being first at Stonehenge.
There were posts erected in the Mesolithic period, between 8500 and 7000 BC. Followed by the current remains of another phase around 5000 BC.
In any event, the Bible tells us to shun all these pagans today.

I was being sarcastic in the earlier post. I’m not sure there is even one authenticated page from the ancient Druids. I don’t even know if they kept written records.
Others wrote about them, including Julius Caesar. He said human sacrifice by burning alive was important to them.
As far as I’m concerned, Druids of old and any modern imitators are simply tools of Satan.
In the course of my divorce I got way more familiar with this stuff than I ever wanted. Basically the people who are involved in this claim they're a continuation of ancient celtic religions but they're full of it. The Romans eradicated celtic paganism, they wiped out all the druids when they came to the british isles. There was no record of the druids religion left to be continued to modern times and the people who claim they're doing so are lying. Modern paganism traces it's roots to a Brit named Gerald Gardner who was a kook who started what basically amounted to a sex cult in the 1940's. He was kind of an early Hippie/Charles Manson type without the murder. He made up the stuff about getting his religion from ancient druids to make himself more enticing to the airheads he was trying to bed.

Neo paganism is a natural consequence of the Enlightenment. The athiest seculars who have come to dominate the West and who have not only forsaken traditional religion for themselves but through their control of media, entertainment, academia and government have managed to disassociate large segments of the population from religion as well. However regardless of their beliefs and actions, they have overlooked the fact that humans are the only species capable of mystical thought. Such thinking is critical for creativity. It cannot be suppressed. Hence in an “enlightened” world neo paganism emerges. There is earth worship complete with rituals and holidays. Vampires, comic book superhero movies complement celebrity worship of living and dead personalities. People avidly use drugs and debase themselves to seek the elusive satisfaction they once found with prayer and devotion.
When considering that such a large percentage of the population has embraced these values and rituals, it ought to be no surprise that the Democrats did as well as they did.
They did not.
Their “written records” as such were basically leaves from trees, each having a historical/mythological significance.
The only surviving “record” of Druids was from Julius Caesar written for the “De Bello Gallico” in which he aggrandized the Druids and Celts in order to make his conquest of them seem even more “glorious”.

Today’s “Druids” are just making it up out of nearly whole cloth.
More is written of the ancient Celtic pagans by the monks who converted them than by any pagan, themselves.

With Obama, it became nearly unbearable.
I could not [as many others here also] even bear to listen to a few seconds of him talking.
Something in my soul/spirit was/is literally sickened by him.
I watched in horror as so many flocked to him like some dark messiah.

Ironically, with this thread about “Druidism” and the like, whether it sounds mad or not, I was ‘cursed with Second Sight’, which is NOT “telling the future”, as some think.
It is the [ancestral?] ability to discern the truth of the spirits behind seemingly benign people or events.
In the bible, it is called “the gift of discernment” but I surely do not count myself worthy of any of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
This has been going on for decades, ever since I had near fatal TBI in 1981 and woke up from a coma “different”.
One of my favorite movies is “They Live” because it finally expressed an analogy of the world I’ve been living in, being able to see the truth behind the masks.
I am not politically brilliant or clued in to most of what is happening on the “world stage” but I will say, without doubt, it is evil.
My ancient kin, the Irish, Scots, Welsh, etc, called the shapeshifters “fairies”, “fae”, “stray sods” and the like but the truth is that all of them were demons, hiding in plain sight, under the guise of whatever cultural reference was current.
Until he died tragically, my dear friend and FReeper, Shibumi and I, exchanged many an email and phone call, talking about such things and we were both “seeing” and sensing the demons behind the charades.
Without him, I’ve been adrift and alone because I have no one with whom to talk about what I see and hear and “normal people” would just judge me insane.
So be it.
But I say to one and all, demons are walking the earth in human skins, wreaking havoc, discord and misery and most people have not a clue and follow them happily.
When I found Rabbi Cahn and listened to his sermons, I wept, first from the joy of finding someone who saw them too but then out of horror, because part of me hoped I was just crazy because the reality is too terrifying to bear.
Having said all of that, I no longer have any “liberal friends”.
I cut them off, even though some of them may just be clueless pawns, deceived by the father of lies, but still, I want no part of it.
I can no longer suffer those who have demonic attachments.
Sometimes, I wonder if doing that is the ‘cause’ of the great sorrows I have suffered since putting them away from me.
So many things are going wrong in my life now, not the least of which is the loss [and the current losing] of my beloved dogs.
I fear I have ticked off the demons who used to pretty much ignore me because I tolerated their presence in liberal “friends”.

The 1962 movie “Burn, Witch, Burn” (based on Fritz Leiber’s “Conjure Wife”) was a pretty good “scary movie” on the topic.

Life was much better in Britain before Christianity. Tribalistic Human sacrifice and sodomy were rampant. Demonic possession was the norm. Just the way Britains like it!
If I remember my history, the Romans wiped out Druidism 2000 years ago. So today’s so-called druids are just fakes with a modern made up religion.
Not much difference between a “return” to druidism and Hitler’s demand the new German religion be based on old Norse gods with his Mein Kampf as the new holy book.

For me the most intriguing thing about the "Good People" is that they simply do not fit into any recognizable world view. Ie, they aren't angels, demons, ghosts, space aliens, etc. There alleged existence defies all conventional secular and religious worldviews yet cultures all over the world have a belief in them (or beings like them). To just dismiss them as "demons" (or "space aliens") seems like shoe-horning them into a mold they don't fit into.
