(Vanity, sort of). Any good and pure church denomination/organizations out there?

Just a query to those more knowledgeable and savvy, about church denominations.

Actually, I mean ANY division of organized Christian religion.

I am frustrated by so many churches now, with all the nonsense of the last 2 years. Paying homage to BLM and homos and bowing down to every COVID decree.

Everyone says what was our church, Lutheran Church - MO Synod (LCMS), is good for being true. However, after the riots started I saw a bit too much virtue-signaling. The only thing I can say was the website did not seem to specify blacks and BLM, but the statement seemed to be self-concsious again about looking like social justice proponents.

So, I’m thinking of looking for other churches, which might happen to be reasonably close to us.

Part of the problem may be that the only qualification for some elders seems to be longevity in the (local) church. We have one who rants about how unfair it is that his daughter can’t grow up to be a pastor. So the solution, I would think, as has been suggested would be to investigate other LCMS churches.

Bingo -- very well put.

I have been a professional woman of considerable accomplishment, but readily admit that I am a refugee from a church that began circling the drain when it approved of having women pastors. From there, the leap to open support for the gay agenda was a mere hop and skip. So glad I finally landed where men run our church and do the preaching and teaching.

Interesting that the more dysfunction congregation had such good preaching, but then, this is a strong point of LCMS on the pastor side.

Could not fault him on that; but he did little else, even though there were crying needs for oversight.

Did not say that. Said the statues are a problem.

Also, must correct . . .
Actually is the SECOND commandment missing in RC and Lutheran catechisms:

From God’s Word, the Holy Bible:

Exodus 20:4 “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:. .”

“No graven images,means statues, sculptures.
They are in Lutheran Churches, too.

Is a problem.

Imagine being in his shoes! Maybe blind to the condition for whatever reason, if not past his skill. And his wife being in with the cool kids to boot.

There was an enabling co-dependency between him and the Elders. They grumbled about him, but lacked the spine to require specific changes. He lived 20+ miles away from the church building, as well. Out of sight, out of mind.

The various churches I’ve known where the pastors had an appropriate level of involvement were ones where they lived within a few minutes’ travel. Several had pastors in walking distance.

Ok it’s a “problem” for you

I think you misinterpret that passage but

you are free to worship as you please

as long as it doesn’t include destroying or

encouraging others to destroy my

private property or the property of my church.

Personally, while I do believe in a God, I don't believe in any man made religion that honors Him. Far too many to choose from, and all promising a pathway to heaven if your tithings are up to snuff......

With that being said, most so called Christians I've encountered in my lifetime, especially on this forum, are nothing but hypocrites.......

So, no art.

The images are not being worshipped. They just represent something. Some that might be worshipped, and some venerated. Some tell the stories.

See, I really don’t agree with that interpretation that it’s all bad.

And that really is what it’s about…interpretation. Esp. If you consider any language barriers.

“Kill” doesn’t mean all killing…it means murder. Same deal, possibly.

If you believe anything sculpted is corrupt, then you should be happy with BLM tearing down everything. We should have no art.

“Ok it’s a “problem” for you”

Problem for churches and persons who change God’s Word.
Disobeying and/or changing the Ten Commandments of God is sin.

- - - - - -

“I think you misinterpret that passage”

Putting the Scripture of Ten Commandments below.
Check Bible for accuracy. No misinterpretation here.

RCC and Lutheran churches have removed the SECOND Commandment, and split the TENTH Commandment to replace it.

BOTH CHURCHES, ROMAN CATHOLIC AND LUTHERAN,
have removed the SECOND Commandment.

No if, and, or but.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Exodus 20: 1-17

“1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

(FIRST COMMANDMENT)
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

(SECOND COMMANDMENT)
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

(THIRD COMMANDMENT)
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

(FOURTH COMMANDMENT)
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

(FIFTH COMMANDMENT)
12 ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

(SIXTH COMMANDMENT)
13 Thou shalt not kill.

(SEVENTH COMMANDMENT)
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

(EIGHTH COMMANDMENT)
15 Thou shalt not steal.

(NINTH COMMANDMENT)
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

(TENTH COMMANDMENT)
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.”

Statues are images.

* * * * * * * * * * *
“you are free to worship as you please” . . .

Yes, at this time and place, this right is in the Constitution, for all of us.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

” . . .as long as it doesn’t include destroying or
encouraging others to destroy my
private property or the property of my church.”

Destroying private property? Destroying church property?

?? FRiend, to what here do you refer? Someone else, possibly?

This came out of thin air. Please explain comment here.
Thank you, Norski

“Not really. Catholicism is unbiblical. Calling your priest, father, asking him to forgive your sins instead of Jesus.

Praying to Mary and putting her ahead of Jesus. Praying to the “saints” and Idol worship.

Sacrificing Jesus over and over when he had said it was finished.

Praying to the dead, thinking they need to be purified to get into heaven.

Salvation is by works.

The list is many”

Exactly. Thank you.

Not happy about this, no. Left the beloved Lutheran Church of heritage and youth, has become unbiblical. Bible follower now. ELCA completely apostate. See Nadia Bolz-Weber. Leading ppl to Hell. Think they’re going to Heaven? What does Bible say?

And not referring to statues in the world. World is Satan’s.

Followers of the Lord Jesus Christ,- “Christians”- accepting God’s commandments, Word, promises, have no business with statues in churches.

It is too easy for a statue to become an idol, and pagans everywhere pray to statues idols. Even some Christians. Sad. People pray to them.

Only way to Heaven, and only way to be reconciled to God is here:

John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Please - did not want to get this far.
This is what God says.
Just quoting Bible, God’s Word, verbatim. Take this up with God.

Myself, did not particularly enjoy removing statues and figurines from home either when convicted by God of this (animals, Foo dogs, dragons, incense burner with chinese witchcraft figure on it, netsuke) We choose to obey or not. We have free will. Have enough issues with disobeying God. Praying for salvation of family members, the choice was then simple. But not easy, no.

Please take suggestion of an earlier poster and ask LORD where He wants you. Ask God to choose church for you, and lead you to it. In Jesus’ Name. God bless you on journey.

how come catholics leave out the commandment about not worshipping graven images? is it because this religion loves to worship graven images and they try to trick people into believing it’s okay to do so?

asking for a friend...

Not a hair.

Second Commandment. Of God.

Why have the Roman Catholic and Lutheran systems removed one of God’s Commandments?

You love God. You pray to God. You also keep lists. You posted these lists! Please, ask God what is right, what is His will here?

How to countenance the corruption of the list of the Ten Commandments of God? Bible? Also in Exodus 34:17? . . .

May God bless and keep you.

N.

I attend a small Christian Church in a very small Mid-Missouri town. Our preacher is quite gifted. I also followed Skip Heitzig on YouTube frequently. Skip is an amazing pastor and preaches from the Bible. He is definatelt not a brainwashed liberal. In fact, in the video sermon released earlier today he actually stated that the pandemic is coming to a close. I’m sure that will cause liberal heads everywhere to explode.

Yes I read the Bible and I teach the Bible.

Acts 20:7 is an example of mistranslation of Greek to English. If you look at your Bible the word "first" was added to the verse. Words in Italics are not int the original text. If you look up the translation of the verse it says "the first sabbaton" was when they met together. That is the first of several Sabbath's in a row, probably the 7 weeks between First Fruits and Pentecost or the Feast of Weeks. There is another use of the same phrase that is used to fool people into thinking they met on Sunday. There is also a use of the word "Easter" in the KJV. It is clearly translated from the word "Passover" or Pascha in Greek.

The Apostles NEVER met on Sunday so the Scripture would say it,....not once!! They could have met on a Sunday, but that is NOT the Sabbath. They probably met on most days of the week.

The Pope changed to Easter, a pagan feast, from the Biblical command God gave His people. He likewise arbitrarily changed the Sabbath to Sunday,... the day they worshiped the Sun god. Tammuz (Nimrod's son) was born on Christmas or the winter solstice. Ezekiel 8:13-14 speaks on Tammuz and Ezekiel 8:16 speaks of a Sunrise Service as an abomination. It basically boils down to following God or a man. Does a Baptist or a Methodist know they are following a pope's decree to observe Easter? Jesus said many times that if you love Me you will follow my Commandments. What does the 4th Commandment say? God commanded us to observe the Feasts in Leviticus 23. The first one is the Sabbath. I could show you 15 more placed God said to keep the Sabbath holy, or set aside for God only.

You may have the opportunity to follow God or a man that claims to be God in the Tribulation. IMO, It's past time to get serious about learning how to follow the God of the Bible and reject false prophets. The reason for my post to the church seeker was to show him the Bible should be your "denomination". Follow the pattern of the First Church that Jesus started and reject the abomination men started.

As an example read 3John:9-10. John, the Apostle Jesus loved, asked to visit a Greek church to speak. Now keep in mind this is the John that actually walked with Jesus and the guy wouldn't receive him or John's followers. They were antisemitic. Antisemitism is the Spirit of Antichrist Jesus spoke of. Do you hate the family you were adopted into?

You copy and pasted a bunch of RCC rules but not one Bible verse tells you that Mary can do anything for anybody. Jesus barely mentioned her during His ministry. As a mater of fact, He said others were His family and denied her as they said Jesus was crazy. Scripture says we aren't to pray to the dead. Jesus is our only Mediator.

1Tim 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

The veil was torn in the temple to allow us to go directly to God. There is no need to pray to dead people, they can't do anything. This is just the tip of the iceberg for why the RCC is the Whore of Babylon. Tear down your statues and idols and graven images before it's too late.

Read Rev 2:18-29. Its to the RCC. Thyatira was the daughter of Nimrod of Babylon.

you’re not saying you don’t have to read the Bible, correct?

you’re apostate. even the Scripture says the Holy Spirit will remind you of what Jesus TOLD you. He TELLS you in His WORD, which you have to read.

You're Quixotic.

You are fighting your own strawman.
