(Vanity, sort of). Any good and pure church denomination/organizations out there?

I've answered your replies and you come back with more wrong thinking.

Well Capitan; based on whose values?

These pagans would be in the synagogues every Sabbath to learn the Commandments and laws so eventually they would come around if they loved the Lord.

And, by extension, one could bring this attitude up to date with:

Prots would be in the churches every Sunday to learn the things NOT listed in the LETTER as being SO essential that eventually they would come around and be baptisted CATHOLIC if they (really) loved the Lord.

Now some questions for you?

You've been on FR a few months longer than I have, surely you have come across a few of my ramblings in over 22 years. (197,189 replies so far)

If not, there is always my homepage where you might find a few of your questions...

Have you read the Bible?
Do you consider yourself a born again Christian?
Are you Catholic?
Why do you have some sort of remark about almost half of the posts here on FR?
What are you trying to prove?

...answered.

My brother and SIL were members of an ELCA for many years and realized they had tolerated too much. The final straw was the new female “pastor” who was insufferable. God led them to a great LCMS church that is faithful to God’s Word. They are happy and blessed there.

As someone once told me, every church that ordains women will eventually ordain homosexuals. Once people say, “God didn’t really mean that, did He?” They are saying the same thing Satan said to Eve in the garden.

To me, the critical part of the Lutherans changing scripture, as per the third commandment, is that after changing it, they bind a corrupted ten commandments on their members.

What else in these churches is missing . . .”

They celebrate the Lord’s supper as a sacrament of forgiveness of sins. Scripture teaches that the communion is celebrated as a “remembrance.” Furthermore, scripture teaches that communion is to be taken every first day of the week; once a month or fewer times by Lutherans.

The organization chart for the New Testament church was Jesus, then the elders of each individual congregation. Not so with Lutherans and other top-down churches.

Baptism was by immersion in the New Testament; not sprinkling or pouring.

Their catechism is equivalent to the “traditions of the (Jewish) elders” which Jesus condemned.

Scripture teaches that all Christians are saints. All the special designated “saints” I hear about are man-made saints.

And the most disheartening is that they welcome some of the categories condemned in the last half of Romans 1.

One reply to your comment asserted that RCs do not pray to idols. Technically correct. Prayer, by definition, is directed to more powerful spiritual beings who are capable of answering your prayer. No apostle or other human holds such a spiritual office. Mary cannot answer anyone’s prayer. Hebrews teaches that each and every Christian can pray directly to Jesus. We are priests and he is the High Priest so we don’t need intermediaries.

In Bible class, I often envy (defined as ‘admiration on steroids’) the wisdom, understanding and grasp of the scriptures that some women have.

I have learned a lot from their comments.

I’ll add a comment or two.

Comments about the Ten Commandments are moot. Because...
The OT Law was nailed to the cross. Anything nailed to a cross dies.

BUT, Jesus fulfilled the old Law. Some examples...

Written in stone ... Written on our hearts.
Don’t do the act ... Careful about your thoughts
No other Gods ... No other name whereby we must be saved.
No adultery ... Don’t lust after a woman
Don’t lie ... Let your nay be nay, your aye be aye
You have heard it said ... but I say unto you.
Keep the Sabbath ... Go to church Hebrews 10:25ff
Do not murder ... He that hateth his brother is a murderer
...Turn the other cheek
...Go the extra mile
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Somehow or other, after Israel returned from Babylonian captivity, idol worship was not a problem. Not mentioned in the NT.
