“What is behind the papal strangulation of the old Mass? “
simple — satan
just ask the church lady !!
You are witnessing agnostic rage in a self loathing old man. He is a man who hated the way he led his life.
The Society of Jesus.
The ImPopester.
He is a tool of Satan.
He should have stayed a bartender.
Maybe because the pope is an indoctrinated, hateful leftist?
I’ll take a stab at it and say Progressive Postmodernism within the RCC?
What do I win??
Any parallel to The Bidet?
The head Jesuit is a Venezuelan communist, supporter of Hugo Chavez.
While parishes are being closed all over the place and many dioceses in the church are in bankruptcy in the aftermath of the massive lawsuits related to sex abuse by priests, the traditional movement is flourishing in many parts of the world.
Hasn’t this been going on for 60 years?
I’m not sure I agree. As much as there are major, severe problems with the Jesuits (e.g., the homosexualist tilt promoted by Fr Jim Martin SJ etc), the fact is that Bergoglio was long alienated from the Society. His tenure as provincial in Argentina was characteristically disastrous, and most of the local Jesuits, left, right & center, hated the man. He was exiled to backwater assignments until John Paul 2 rescued him from obscurity to make him an auxiliary bishop. The Jesuits begged JP2 to NOT appoint him on the grounds of his quarrelsome, unstable personality. But JP2 ignored the Jesuits’ warnings, assuming that they were just attacking Bergoglio because he was a “conservative” (unbelievably, that really was the rap on him). The Jesuits reportedly had a thick file on Bergoglio in their headquarters in Rome, but the documents were purged upon his election in 2013. In any case, given his estrangement from the Society, it makes little sense to imagine that Bergoglio’s agenda is dictated by the S.J.s. He doesn’t need them to be diabolical. He’s doing fine on his own.
"may" became "shall" and what was prescribed was abandoned.
"It was largely what came afterwards, with the explosive and revolutionary ‘implementation’ of the Council. The vast majority of bishops had no say (let alone anyone else) in the promulgation of the reformed Mass."
"However, at the Synod of Bishops in 1967 it is on record that only a minority of bishops present approved the New Order of Mass. Cardinal Heenan prophesied it would result in dwindling numbers. In spite of this, the Consilium pushed it through, calling on all to be a obedient to the “spirit of Vatican II.”
"Cardinal Ottaviani, then head of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, complained that the new Mass marked a “striking departure” from the solemnly defined Catholic Eucharistic theology of the Council of Trent."
"In many ways it can be demonstrated that the Consilium’s new Mass was in no way what was envisaged by the Fathers at Vatican II. For example, the Council asks that “Latin is to be retained in all the rites” (it totally disappeared) and “Gregorian chant is to have pride of place” (It sadly has had no place at all!)"
I know a lady who works for a diocese in MA. She speaks with complete derision about the Lain Mass, like it’s some negative thing that needs to go away.
I was going to say the same thing, except, "just ask an exorcist." Most of them will tell you that satan and his minions loathe the Latin Mass.
So what can we do about this, other than pray?
Can you say Satan?
