WASHINGTON (CNS) — The challenge posed by climate change “demands ongoing effort from all of us,” three U.S. Catholic leaders said in a statement issued in Washington Oct. 31, the opening day of the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
The annual conference, also known as COP26, “is an opportunity for all nations to protect the environment while at the same time providing reliable, affordable and carbon free energy through innovation and enterprise, ensuring a better future for the entire human family, especially for the working class, the poor and marginalized,” the leaders said.
Issuing the joint statement were Archbishop Paul S. Coakley of Oklahoma City, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development; Bishop David J. Malloy of Rockford, Illinois, chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on International Justice and Peace; and Sean Callahan, president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services, the U.S. bishops’ overseas relief and development agency.
“The climate crisis is complex and demands the discernment and cooperation of the entire human family,” they said, praising the Biden administration’s recent commitments in anticipation of the 13-day conference to reduce carbon dioxide and methane emissions “within our own borders.”
Biden has pledged to cut U.S. carbon emissions by 50% to 52% below 2005 levels by the end of this decade and has urged other countries to join the U.S. in committing to cut methane gas emissions by at least 30% below 2020 levels also by the end of the decade.
Biden also said his administration supported increasing climate finance contributions for adaptation and mitigation in low-income countries.

This is the biggest problem the Catholic Church can see.
Cows seem to be a suspected source of methane, so I will try to eat more beef. Though I prefer lamb and chicken is easier on my checkbook. But sacrifices have to be made I guess.
Well, in all fairness, they neglected Climate Change back in Noahs time and you can see what happened there.
Climate Crisis = Communist Crisis
nonsense.
that is what they believe
and tgese people also believe in massive population reduction to reduce human activities that they believe affect climate change
thars why they demand everyone get the death shots
There is no climate crisis.
Big lie.
Advice to the "Catholic Leaders"
Behold I command thee, take courage, and be strong. Fear not and be not dismayed: because the Lord thy God is with thee in all things whatsoever thou shalt go to.
“Climate change” is a weaponized fairy tale used to steal money from poor people in rich countries to give to rich people in poor countries.
The New Religion of Insane
Next they will start demanding human sacrifices to appease the earth goddess. Where is the Catholic Church going?
What climate crisis?
Barf Alert Ping
The meaning of It Takes A Village by Hillary Clinton was not that an African story was behind it, but that it is faulty and outdated to believe parents should have a hand in raising children when the Communist State as a whole should raise them all. After deciding on abortion or not, boy or girl, abortion if probable defects and so on, of course.
So now the global leaders can decide on what freedoms can be doled out to any of us (use our heat or AC at home, be allowed to own a car or drive somewhere, what to search on Google, what political opinions to be permitted to have....)
The old ideas of personal freedom from God guaranteed with a Constitution in the US are frightfully old fashioned.
Stfu!!
I’ve lived for close to 70 years within a few miles of the place where I was born.
I haven’t seen any real ‘climate change’. Some Winters are colder and more troublesome than others, and some Summers are hotter - as they’ve both always been.
How are we supposed to know for a fact that this is actually happening?
Thousands of accomplished scientists have refused to buy-into the notion that what appear to be very small, probably cyclical changes in temperature, represent an ‘existential problem’; so why should the rest of us?
All of the ‘climate change’ rhetoric and propaganda is starting to sound like ‘blah blah blah’, to me.
So he’s saying God doesn’t control the climate...
The biggest producer of methane is termites.
Cows, like CO2 are bit players in alleged climate impact, but make for the most useful targets for the left to advance their agenda.
