Archbishop Cordileone: Traditional Latin Mass Will Continue in San Francisco
National Catholic Register ^ | June 16, 2021 | Christine Rousselle

It seems that Traditional Latin Masses in dioceses throughout the United States are largely set to continue as scheduled, while bishops prepare responses to Traditionis custodes.

As diocesan bishops consider how to implement Pope Francis’ motu proprio on the use of the Traditional Latin Mass, the Archbishop of San Franciso has said it will continue to be available in his local Church.

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco told CNA July 16 that “The Mass is a miracle in any form: Christ comes to us in the flesh under the appearance of Bread and Wine. Unity under Christ is what matters. Therefore the Traditional Latin Mass will continue to be available here in the Archdiocese of San Francisco and provided in response to the legitimate needs and desires of the faithful.”

It seems that Traditional Latin Masses in dioceses throughout the United States are largely set to continue as scheduled, while bishops prepare responses to Traditionis custodes.

The motu proprio states that it is each bishop’s “exclusive competence” to authorize the use of the 1962 Roman Missal in his diocese....

Archbishop Cordileone’s sentiment matched that of other bishops.

Bishop Edward Scharfenberger of Albany wrote that “With respect to the celebration of the Roman Liturgy prior to the reforms of 1970, I wish to reiterate the great pastoral and spiritual good that has been experienced by those who have been and who are engaged in this form of the Liturgy. I would also like to acknowledge the many valuable contributions made to the life of the Church through such celebrations.”

Not a statement from Archbishop Perez, but pope francis is an agent of the anti-christ.
I don’t know if The Church will prevail, but I do think the end times are upon us.

O’Bungles in red shoes will likely get the opposite of what he’s trying to accomplish.

Just as did the ‘original’ between 2009 & 2017 achieved.

Is there a Catholic Church TEA Party brewing???

One thing in the Catholic Church, we cannot fight back. The pope has supreme authority. The hierarchy is an oligarchy. The laity do not have much power in the larger scheme. Roma locuta est.

The laity do not have much power in the larger scheme.

Don't underestimate the power of ridicule. People in high positions in the political pecking order do NOT take kindly to being mocked or made fun of, or laughed at.

This guerilla war hasn't started. Buckle up.

It took a couple centuries to play out, but we’re seeing now the inherent flaws in the institution of the papacy that became so much more powerful in the 19th and 20th centuries. Once upon a time, the Catholic monarchs of Europe formed a counterweight to the pope. With the collapse of the monarchies beginning with the French Revolution and ending with WWI, a vacuum was created that in theory resulted in absolute power over all aspects of Catholicism in theory belonging to the power. Lord Acton, a Catholic, was talking about the papacy when he said that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. All it takes is one bad pope being handed the keys to do massive damage. And we’re there.

“bishops prepare responses.” Yup. Nothing new here. In 2007 charitable Pope B XVI published a rule about the Latin mass which some bishops accepted and some bishops rejected. Similarly, the pitiful Bergoglio published a rule about the Latin mass in 2021 and some bishops will accept and some bishops will reject. Seminarians have been discouraged to follow Church history by hippy, gay and loser teachers since 1970’s.

Bishops allowing the TLM in their diocese. I thought that is only reserved for Rome.

That was the case from 1969 to 1984, and consequently there were very few (but some) Tridentine masses thru the US.

Then in 1984, Pope JP2 issued his famous “indult” allowing TLM’s to be held with the approval of the bishop of the diocese.

The permission widened much more with Benedict’s ‘Summorum Pontificum’ in 2007. This clarified that the Tridentine mass had never been abrogated, the 2 rites are mutually beneficial, and any priest fully qualified may offer the TLM if it’s requested by a stable group of Catholics.

Currently there are about 650 Tridentine masses weekly in the USA.

Hogwash! There's a reason mortal Catholics comprise the Church Militant, not the Church Milquetoast. At our Confirmations we become soldiers of Christ.

The pope has supreme authority.

Nonsense. Jesus Christ has supreme authority.

The Church has suffered numerous anti-popes in its history and has not fallen. The Church will survive Bergoglio, whatever he will become remembered for.
