My reservations with the article go beyond the characterization that this represents Catholicism in Mexico. I suspect that it also betrays a dishonest approach to missionary work by some Protestants there, inasmuch as they assure these pseudoCatholics that in order to leave these pagan practices they must leave Catholicism itself rather than informing them that these practices are actually contrary to Catholicism. To me, this is revealed by the author’s contrasting of Catholicism with Christianity. Catholics are Christians and a presentation that would conflate a pagan syncretism with true Catholicism in order to bring a person to a true (Protestant) Christianity is dishonest. While these Evangelical Protestants may be sincere Christians, so are true Catholics and honest work by Protestant missionaries would respect this and not falsely portray Catholicism as pagan.

Considering how superstitious Catholics in WNY were, I can certainly see where Mexico is much worse. They’ve had a reputation for it for a long time.

These evangelicals are indeed going beyond simply delivering these cryptopagans and are using that to deliver them from more false doctrine, and which they should just come out and state. For as said, distinctive Catholic teachings are not manifest in the only wholly inspired substantive authoritative record of what the NT church believed (which is Scripture, in particular Acts through Revelation, which best shows how the NT church understood the gospels). It is quite a list.

Oh, like:

Yes, it is indeed quite the list. And while the writings of the early church Fathers are not inspired Scripture, they do show what the early Christians believed, and it was entirely Catholic.

Be that as it may, it is dishonest to attack and seek to discredit the Catholic Church for things that the Catholic Church itself condemns. An honest Protestant missionary would acknowledge that these pagan practices are contrary to Catholic teaching and limit his arguments to actual disputes between Catholics and Protestants.

These Mexican Catholics or Mexicans with a Catholic heritage are likely associated and are still considerably influenced by a breakaway Mexican Catholic sect that is apparently officially defunct now but is still likely in its beliefs to be influential in many areas; “Traditionalist” was part of its name.

“Traditionalist Mexican-American Catholic Church: The Traditionalist Mexican-American Catholic Church (Iglesia Católica Tradicionalista mexicana-estadounidense), sometimes known as the Traditionalist Mexico-USA Tridentine Catholic Church, was an independent Catholic church in North America. They broke away from the Catholic Church over their veneration of Santa Muerte. They are primarily active in the border regions of the United States and Mexico and have a particular presence among the Mexican immigrant communities in major United States cities. David Romo Guillén has been the current archbishop and primate of the Church since 1993, but was arrested on 2011 due to criminal charges, and the church is now no longer operational.”

And do you think that your Watchtower would excommunicate people? Oh wait, they do.

What about the Baptist Carter and Kamala Harris?

But who will help the heretics return to His Church?

Well; with this new(?) target; maybe we Prots will be left alone for a while.

Perhaps if Rome had not let the EOs slip thru her fingers; NONE of todays problems would have ever existed.

After all; look what happened to the Jews when they failed to wipe out the Gibeonites.

These practices have nothing to do with Catholicism.

So?

Many 'traditions' of the RCC have very little to do with the bible...

. And while the writings of the early church Fathers are not inspired Scripture, they do show what the early Christians believed, and it was entirely Catholic.

And yet; the Bible IS considered INSPIRED, and the first three chapters of Revelation SHOW what the 'entirely catholic church' was believing and practicing.

Francis and the RC church have an idol problem with Amazonian idols like Pachamama. I fail to see the difference

Kamala Harris' mother Shyamala Gopalan was born in Madras, Tamil Nadu.

They don't worship Durga there -- that deity is from Bengal

Tamilians normally worship the god Murugan

But that depends if she was a Vaishnavite or Shaivite

andKamala herself is a Baptist, holding membership of the Third Baptist Church - a congregation of the American Baptist Churches USA
