BOSTON, MAThe Unitarian Universalist Association revealed its new logo to much buzz and fanfare Friday morning. Replacing its previous logo consisting of a flaming chalice, the new logo is a shrugging emoji man, said to represent the religious groups lack of certain belief in any doctrine or creed at all.
We wanted our new logo to send a strong message about what we believe, UUA President Reverend Peter Morales told reporters gathered in front of a large banner with the new logo, unfurled just moment before. And we have no idea what we believe, really. So the shrugging man is the perfect, strong symbol for our confused congregations to rally behind.
I mean, I think anyway. Im not super sure if it is, or not. I guess its a toss-up, he added pensively, extending his arms outward in a shrug.
When asked if Association churches would be forced to use the new logo, Morales paused for a moment to gather his thoughts before responding, Um, no. I dont think soor maybe I do? That doesnt sound like something we would do, anyway.
Several different-colored iterations of the new logo were reportedly unveiled, as well as a completely blank logo for those congregations unwilling to make such a bold statement about their beliefs.
What do you get when you cross a Jehovah’s Witness with a Universalist Unitarian?
Someone who comes and knocks on your door for no reason.
And commies....but I repeat myself.
my Dad attended UUA some times. They held some interesting talks and discussions. The UUA had nothing to do with any religious faith but my Dad didn’t go there for that. So, he enjoyed it.
About 45 years ago we went to the Unitarian church to pick up hot divorcees.
They probably have good pot lucks.
I thought it was the Episcopalians who renamed “The Ten Commandments” to “The Ten Suggestions”.
Joke I heard Tom Rush say during a
concert: “When I lived in Colorado
the Unitarians burned a question mark
on my lawn.”
Ha! Good one.
Once again I was skewered by the Bee again.
Their certain belief is, there is no certain belief.
It might be conceivable that ALL religions are wrong. But it is impossible that they are all right.
The Prince of churches.
Not really - cause then the dogma or belief or religion that all other religions are wrong would be right. So that is self cancelling.
One of the satire magazines had that too
