Investigators still don't have access to the area where the fire began
One year ago today, the world watched in horror as a fire swept through Pariss iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, sending its spire crumbling to the ground, caving in its ceiling, and setting alight its historic interior. And now, with the country on lockdown, restoration efforts on the Gothic building have been put on hold, forcing a team of 100 engineers, scientists, architects, and archeologists to cease their tireless work on the damaged structure.
The target date for completing the complex and delicate restoration has always been 2024, in time for Paris to host the Olympic Games. But experts have been skeptical of that timeline from the start. And since President Emmanuel Macron announced that ambitious target just two days after the fire, there have been considerable delaysover high winds and record heat that further endangered the weakened structure, investigating concerns that lead pollution unleashed by the collapse of the roof, and now the coronavirus shutdown.
The aim is to reopen the cathedral in 2024 even though the work wont all be done, Stéphane Tissier, director of operations on the project, told TIME. The objective will be that that the public will be able to reenter in 2024. (Prior to the current lockdown, there was speculation that the cathedrals forecourt would be opened to visitors as early as March.)
With work at a standstill, engineers are relying on laser monitoring systems to detect any structural movement that might trigger another collapse. Although firefighters were able to save the cathedrals nave and twin bell towers, the intensity of the fire still puts the churchs structural integrity at risk.

I think I could venture a guess.
It’s spelled M - U - S - L - I - M - S.
The consensus from people in the know around here was that it was an accidental fire.
My first thought was muzzies but I don’t know nearly enough about the chemicals and reactions involved that started this horrific blaze.
If it’s not rebuilt with the same love and faith as the original, then it’s not the same building.
Its not “shrouded in mystery”. Mohammedans burned it to the ground. Prove me wrong.
LOL. Whatever. Guess no one really cares.
I used to care.
Last night I dreamt of All Baba and the forty thieves....
“Shrouded in Mystery”
Right. And I have a championship camel I’ll make you a good deal on.
The Muslim Jihad will never allow the Cathedral to open. They will blow it up or burn it down. The only way to save the structure is to acquiesce to Islam and allow them to turn it into La Grande Mosquee de Paris, construite sur LES ruins de Norte Damme.
Not to me
I recall that French officials said that they were going to do a complete investigation of the cause of a fire.
Did anyone ever do an investigation? An entire year later we still are no closer to knowing the cause?
I smell a rat with this one.
If it was an accidental fire, they’d tell us exactly how it started. The fact that they haven’t tells us that they want that story to go away. Now ask why....
Only the enemies denies it was an islamicist attack on Christianity.
I would like to know more about the people in the know who think the fire was accidental.
From what I understand, aged oak beams from very large trees are known for their fire resistance.
Mystery’s ass. The frog-eating surrender sissies are just afraid to admit that it was muzzies.
Shrouded in mystery... or secrecy?
