The wife of an Oregon man serving a 15-year prison sentence for sexually abusing the couples daughter has filed a $9.5 million lawsuit against The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, saying a clergy member violated a promise of confidentiality by reporting her husband to authorities.

A crime is a crime and this kind of crime is the most heinous short of murder................
How creepy. Mormon wife takes perv’s side against her child.
The “5 Browns” sibling piano group had the same thing happen. The (Mormon) father sexually abused his daughters, and the wife stood with her husband. The five children are estranged from both parents now.
Since the law does not recognize or enforce any religion this amounts to a person not keeping a confidence. No law broken. In addition, the person was obligated to reveal the knowledge of commission of a crime.
This lawsuit should be dismissed.
What is a lay clergy member? I believe many Mormon men take a turn serving as “bishop.” Is that primarily administrative? Perhaps one of our LDS members could explain.

Well, she does want to be resurrected when her husband calls her name.
I don’t want to go were they are going.
Sounds like she was an accessory as well.
That means the bitch needs to be investigated and probably charged.
“Well, she does want to be resurrected when her husband calls her name.”
Oh, yeah; there is THAT. (I forgot.)
Lay clergy member mostly means not paid. The bishop receives virtually no training for the job and can easily spent 20 to 30 hours a week. Usually the job of bishop lasts about 5 years.
I, too, had this initial impression when I first met my mormon (former) inlaws. Then I found out its all an act. The FIL has been cheating on the MIL for years, and she stands by him and acts as though he is just a great husband.
This is what happens when you fall for a con founded by a con artist.
WTF! Did she think they were Catholic?
FYI: Lay Clergy in the LDS Church is that the leadership of the Church are non-payed and volunteer their time. This is true from Stake Presidents (usually over about 3 to 6 Wards) and includes Ward Bishops/Bishoprics (usually about 300 to 500 members).
My current Bishop is a professional welder, and is perhaps the best Bishop I have seen in my 58 years in the LDS Church.
Your missing the pint. The LDS (Mormon) Church reported the child molestation to the legal authorities.
There are bad apples in every church and organization .... but you have to admire when a Church does the right thing and reports felonies to the authorities rather than trying to hide/protect their members or leaders.
You are pathetic in your religious hatred.
I wasn’t commenting on the church reporting the abuse; the church did the right thing! My comments were solely about how the molesters’ wives supported the men and kicked the kids to the curb.
I grew up knowing more preachers than I did “regular people”. You don’t need to tell me about bad apples in every church. I totally get it.
There is a good chance that you won’t go where the LDS are going.
You’ll likely get your chance to sing in a heavenly choir for eternity ..... As LDS, we call that the Telestial Kingdom (1st Cor 15:40)
That hymn singing is going to get pretty tiresome after the billionth time.
(Spoiler alert: God did not create man just so he could be surrounded by a bunch of hymn singers telling him how wonderful he is .... God’s ego is not that needy!)
Your posts seem to consistently confuse discussions about biblical beliefs with hatred.
Then you post once or twice without evidence and leave.
So in advance, I wish you a happy new year and look forward to your next appearance!
