Pope Says Parents Cried Over Atom Bombings

TOKYO - Pope Francis has told Japanese Emperor Naruhito that he remembers seeing his parents cry over the news of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 74 years ago.

The pope traveled on Sunday to the two Japanese cities, where he urged world powers to renounce their nuclear arsenals and declared the use and possession of atomic bombs an “immoral” crime.

Palace officials say the pope told the emperor on Monday that he recalled the memory of his parent’s sorrow when he addressed survivors of the atomic bombings in the two cities.

Naruhito told Francis that he has high respect for the pope’s efforts on behalf of world peace and people’s happiness.

The emperor is a symbol of the nation and has no direct political power.

Japan says it seeks a nuclear-free world but still depends on U.S. nuclear deterrence because of the worsening security environment in the region.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga made the comments Monday, a day after Francis demanded in Nagasaki and Hiroshima that world powers renounce their nuclear arsenals and declared that the use and possession of atomic bombs was “immoral.”

I’m sure my father just off the battle for Okinawa shed a tear of joy that he would not die invading Japan.

I would imagine most people did. It was probably a horrible thing to see or read about.

Did they cry about Pearl Harbor, Bataan Death March, and other such atrocities?

Did he hear his goddess gaia sob also or did he not worship her until later? Francis, gaia worshiping, homosexual, socialist? YES.

Francis, actually Catholic? I don't think so!

” seeing his parents cry over the news of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki”

Did they also cry over Pearl Harbor and Nanking?

This Pope needs a new job, he should learn how to code.

If only Japan hadn’t invaded other lands all across Asia and the Pacific, treaing the inhabitants like farm animals to be slaughtered or used as sexual slaves until the continued rapes killed them.

Then the atomic bomb wouldn’t have been needed.

Maybe Francis' parents really did cry when they heard about the atomic bombings, but I get a vibe similar to the one I get with Joe Biden's tendentious reminiscences on the campaign trial.

What is Francis running for now?

Why on earth is this “pope” crying over the deaths of war aggressors who started the hostilities, over 70 years ago? Doesn’t he have more current duties to occupy his time?

War is Hell!

None of the death is pretty.

At the time it was estimated a continuation of "conventional war" would have resulted in ONE MILLION more dead, stretching over a year or more.

Cut in half by 50 cal.

Shredded by artillery and bomb shrapnel.

Burned by napalm.

And yes, including innocent civilians, living in the cities where the factories of war reside and are thus targeted.

The "advantage" of the world seeing the devastation of nuclear weapons is that the fear has kept the peace in more cases than we'll ever know.

And Korea.
And the Philippines.
And Saipan.
And Guam.

But evidently Poop Francisco thinks only conqering empires have a right to be mourned, and it’s a tragedy when the world rises up and smites them down.

“My father cried too. It meant he didn’t have to go from Berlin to the Pacific.”

I’m here for exactly the same reason. My Dad was Infantry. The number of Japanese killed in the atomic bombings was but a small fraction of what the horrific carnage of a Japan home islands invasion would have been.

The older I get the more I realize what the factor of sheer chance has to do with one’s own existence.

But then, for the gift of life I give thanks to He who made it possible. May God be praised!

Given his affinity for Islam, apparent accommodation with homosexuality and downright advocacy of socialism (which is absolutely godless Communism), Bergoglio kinda gives the lie to being the vicar of Christ.

I wonder if the Pope's parents cried during the Japanese Rape Of Nanking

Or, during the Bataan Death March

IMO, the Japanese mostly got what they deserved.

Japanese Murder During WW2

"From the invasion of China in 1937 to the end of World War II, the Japanese military regime murdered near 3,000,000 to over 10,000,000 people, most probably almost 6,000,000 Chinese, Indonesians, Koreans, Filipinos, and Indochinese, among others, including Western prisoners of war. This democide was due to a morally bankrupt political and military strategy, military expediency and custom, and national culture (such as the view that those enemy soldiers who surrender while still able to resist were criminals). "

I mean, really! The Argies were late to the WWII party, declaring against Germany in March, 1945. There weren’t any Bergoglios training for Operation Olympic. Let ‘em cry.

His parents were Italian immigrants to Argentina. Were they Fascisti? Don’t know but possibly. Their adopted country was friendly to the Axis and only declared war on the Axis in April 45, or be faced with postwar ostracism.
