Pope Francis already has been accused of heresy by prominent Catholic clergy, but now his longtime friend and interviewer is claiming the South American-born pontiff denies one of the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith, that Jesus Christ rose from the dead in bodily form.
Eugenio Scalfari, a left-wing atheist journalist, published the remarks in the periodical he founded, La Repubblica, and in a new book, CNS News reported.
Scalfari claims that the pope told him that Jesus Christ did not rise bodily from the dead but "in the semblance of a spirit."
In the Nov. 5 edition of La Repubblica and in the introduction to his new book, Scalfari states Francis said: "He [Jesus] was a man until he was placed in the tomb by the women who recomposed his body. That night, in the tomb, the man [Jesus] disappeared and came forth from the grotto in the semblance of a spirit that met the women and the Apostles while still preserving the shadow of the person, and then he definitely disappeared."

But I won't be holding my breath.
Is the Pope Catholic? Is now a serious question, not a rhetorical device.
What the?? Why don’t they get rid of this idiot! Is there ANYTHING leftism hasn’t infected today?
If Christ did not rise from the dead, there is no Christianity.
So for Frankie the Red, the Gospels are just another ancient ghost story?
Communism is a deadly cancer and I think we’ve entered stage four.
Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils1 Timothy 4:1.
The rest of that verse also applies to the Catholic Church and in general in increasing intensity as we reach the End.
That sums it up.
The Cardinals got rid of his predecessor and knew exactly who/what they were voting for in this false pope.
How does Francis in good conscience keep calling himself Catholic???
I think this headline is simplistic and deceptive.
The nature of Christ’s resurrected body is beyond our understanding. We can be pretty confident it wasn’t a reanimated corpse, and I suspect that’s all that the Pope was pointing out.
That said, this Pope doesn’t seem very good at clear, focused, well-articulated evangelism of the Gospel, in my opinion. Too much politics and put-downs of conservatives.
I’m not Catholic - and he certainly isn’t making it more appealing to consider becoming one.
So, to him the Pentecost was merely a mass-delusion.
You might say the Pope is ‘Whit-less’, to use one of the ‘kinder’ phrases.
The pope isn’t a Christian. One of the basic beliefs of Christianity was that Christ rose bodily from the dead. Because ha had never sinned, he paid a price for something he didn’t do and death couldn’t hold him.
Must be the pope does not believe the Bible.
You know, when this Pope was first selected, I thought, okay, maybe the Catholic Church needs a good butt kicking, especially after the pedo priest fiasco. Someone you can restore trust and faith into the church, help the poor and spread the word of Christ. And I remember early on in his tenure he went after the Cardinal of Bling, who basically spent millions of Church money on his residence, which appears corrupt. I thought, okay, this is a good thing.
But since then, this Pope has basically turned into some sort of leftist politician and of course we can name things like climate change, immigration etc
I don’t understand the direction this Pope is going, it doesn’t make any sense.
Doesn’t the Book of Revelation warn us of this kind of thing?
...and bears now use port-a-potties.
Isn’t this what muslims believe?
lol
