Christianity is a religion that leads slaves to freedom. Reliably the absence of it does the reverse. The greatest shame of our time is we inherited a world in which Christianity was the very dominant Faith. If it becomes again the religion of slaves it is OUR fault. What should we do to prevent that?

First, He does. The people asking this fail to realize that God does not exist in time as we do. He is in all moments of time, past, present, future simultaneously as well as all possible moments. (The what might have beens.) That means that from God’s perspective He is dealing with evil-doers right now.

Secondly, because God loves all people even those doing evil He is merciful to all. He gives sinners time to repent.

Yep, most of these people were never Christians in the first place. If you believe Jesus was just some ordinary guy who said some wise things, but never performed miracles or rose from the dead or was the Son of God, then you are not a Christian.

The what might have beens? I like to think that God might have prevented some of them. Or sent someone in his stead. But think about it: if God prevented all evil, then there wouldn’t be free will. With free will comes the freedom to defy and rebel. Would the same people who blame God for allowing evil to exist also want their own freedom to be taken away? To become like robots? I don’t think so, which makes them hypocrites to an extent.
