Benny Hinn: 'I'm done with it'
onenewsnow ^ | 9/6/19 | Steve Jordahl

So it must have been quite a shock to his viewers – many of whom, perhaps, have supported his ministry for years by sending him money – to hear him say earlier this week:

Hinn: "… I'm sorry to say that prosperity has gone a little crazy – and I'm correcting my own theology …. And I will tell you now something that is going to shock you: I think it's an offense to the Lord, it's an offense to say give a thousand dollars. I think it's an offense to the Holy Spirit to place a price on the gospel. I'm done with it. I will never again ask you to give a thousand [dollars] or whatever amount because I think the Holy Ghost is just fed up with it."

Christian apologist and author Dr. Alex McFarland calls Hinn's decision "an amazing theological turn by one of the leaders of the Charismatic movement, televangelism and the prosperity gospel for several decades."

David Wilkerson

The Cross and the Switchblade. THAT David Wilkerson? I saw Nicky Cruz preach in Del Rio, by golly Texas. I think it was around 1974. Pat Boone and Erik Estrada. 👍

Nope. Never mentions his sin in vids of the interviews on YT. He is just changing biz tactics to appeal to the younger generations.

Agreed, but if you noticed he says he is done asking for MORE money. He’s got enough already.

Luke 8:16

And no man, when he hath lighted a lamp, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but putteth it on a stand, that they that enter in may see the light.

Why are you hiding this under a basket?

Anyone here recall Herbert W Armstrong and ‘The World Tomorrow ‘?"

Indeed I do. He was a fixture on KFI during the '50s and '60s. He must have had a hugh audience with his late-night broadcast on that 50,000-watt clear-channel station.

When his empire came crashing down in the '70s amid scandal and lawsuits, it became increasingly obvious that the whole "Worldwide Church of God" was, if not a cult, at the very least a giant (tax-free) scam.

Benny Hinn? Sorry, I misread the topic, thinking this thread was about Benny Hill, may he rest in peace. Great comic..

I remember years ago Benny Hinn’s book Good Morning Holy Spirit had a profound impact on my life. I loved that book. It made me feel like I could talk to the Holy Spirit as my best friend. I never saw Benny Hinn in person, or tried to, but loved that book.

I am amazed at your judgemental attitude. My opinion is that you yourself might be able to do many right things, but at this moment you are failing, just like Benny Hinn.

That does not mean he did not have a gift, which even Balaam had, or was no sincere, his errors were clear and substantial, and needed to be exposed and reproved for the Truth's sake.

ABSOLUTELY! Thanks.

When I lived in Florida, a long time ago, I could walk past the TV and feel Hinn coming through the turned-off set. Moved to SoCal, he was appearing in person at some big arena in Anaheim.

Very curious abut him, I went early to get a good seat. The followers were so easily led...he passed his hand over the audience and everyone but me fell back into their chairs. Thousands of people. I could not believe the level of mass hypnosis going on there. VERY powerful guy. But what was the power???

Did he do good for people? I have no idea.

I will say that years later, I was up at 4 a.m. with a very sick cat. The televangelist Robert Tilton was on TV, which I turned on just to keep me awake. He was making the usual pitch for a ten-fold return on your contribution. I sent him $250.

I was worried about a $25,000 payment the IRS thought I owned them. Spoke with IRS a few months later, and not only did I not owe $25,000 but they found an overpayment from a few years back and sent me a check for $2500. Rather amazing.

My second post to the thread.

My very tough minded Israeli friend Shoshanna went to a Katherine Kuhlman meeting in Los Angeles decades ago just because she was curious.

Shoshanna reported that Kuhlman was a master at moving energy around. People came up the aisle to the stage and Kuhlman, a petite woman, would literally pick them up and throw them backward to “catchers,” without ever touching them. Perhaps a Christian would have said it was Jesus. At any rate, that’s who Kuhlman called upon.

PLUS, my friend Bev was born with crossed eyes. Her mom took her to some healer in Texas, where they lived, and she was cured entirely.

Really wish I had a church with similar minster nearby.

This made me curious, so when I was in San Francisco years later, I went to”healing services” in a couple of Christian churches. Got picked up and thrown back without being touched. Cured of every ailment.

I’d heard of him also but thought he was a British comedian of the slapstick genre.

“Who says I hide my faith under a basket?”

You do.

By hiding these miracles.
