Because this is an official letter from California bishops, is it a moral imperative for Catholics in the State?
The time may have come to cancel their tax-exempt status.
Do they ever find time to share the Gospel?
“Fossil fuels” is a misnomer from the get go.
Their primary job is to save souls, yet they are focusing on other things.
Lord have mercy on us.
Yup. Anyone that is a true believer must cease and desist using any and all products made from or supplied by petroleum products. NOW! Mud huts, thatch roofs, dung fires......
OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Hilarious bishops. They should do standup but that would require backbone.
Ecological conversion? Like what, baptizing some wetlands?
There is an obvious false premise in that statement.
I presume they meant "fossil fuel" based economy. But the use of fossil fuels has been an enormous benefit to the "poor". Most of them would not be alive if we had not used fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels mean cheap food and housing for the "poor".
The whole "climate change" alarmism is based on degrading everyone's life choices, especially the "poor".
I put "poor" in quotes, because California's "poor" would be considered upper middle class in much of the world. They have free education, free health care, electricity, central heating, air conditioning, usually a car, and food so cheap they become overweight.
What sophistry this call to action is. All based on false premises. Satan is the father of lies.
I guess they would withhold Communion from those who declined this conversion before they would even hint that homosexuality is sinful.
I don’t think any of these crusaders grasp this. Or care.
Nah. However, my conscience as a practicing Catholic for a long time has compelled me to decline to donate to the diocesan appeal, and all other requests by the bishop for money. They do some good work, but money is fungible, and any support I give them inevitably supports crap like this.
These heretics are bent on the destruction of the RCC.

These bishops need to butt out of sheer worldly politics. Talk about "clericalism"? It's clericalism on stilts. They do nothing but attract the amused contempt of non-believers and the angry resentment of believers.
All while ignoring the One Thing Needful.
