This is one of the many consequences of the evil Synod of Mainz, A.D. 1049, which forcibly ended Priestly Marriages (wives sent to convents) and which was one of causes of the Great Schism of 1054—after which the Church ceased to breathe with both her lungs.
The Orthodox have not departed from Apostolic practice of allowing Priests to marry, provided that they enter into Marriage before Ordination.
This was the universal, catholic practice for the first millenium.
The innovation of mandatory celibacy has to go.

They should also check out the pipeline from India. These poor boys, saved from the streets and sent to preseminary at a very young age...groomed...eventually sent to US parishes when they are about 22 years old. So mixed up. Know from my sister’s experience. When she became homebound in Bklyn, NY, parish sent a new Indian priest. Atthetime she lived with herdaughter, who had a 13 year old son. Father Whats-his-name, after several Communion visits, confessed to my sister that he was in love with her grandson and could not contain his impure thoughts and impulses! Of course the family reported him ...he was sent packing, back to Calcutta!
