And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)
In all of the rest of Creation, the LORD God spoke and it was. Creation by Fiat, The Lord said Let there be Trees, fish, beasts, domestic animals, etc. . But when He made man, The Most High got down in the clay, and formed with his own hands the marvelous body of the first man, Adam.
Then he did something completely intimate, something very close to mouth to mouth , He breathed into his very nostrils the Spirit of Life. (Who do you let breath into your nostrils?).
Man is unique, He is different from all of the rest of Creation, which seems to have been brought into being to serve his needs and to make him comfortable in a suitable habitation, by the merciful Creator.
But if Man is unique, what is Woman? She is totally special, and was brought into being in an eve more intimate way.
And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:18-25).
The first not good pronounced by the LORD God on any aspect of His creation, occurred before the Fall of man. Therefore, it had nothing to do with Satan, sin or evil. Gods plan was not yet complete, for the LORD God had purposed that man was not to be a solitary actor. It was not good that the man was alone. God would make for him a help meet (suitable and complimentary) for him.
This need for marital companionship was seemingly underscored by the divinely assigned task of naming all of the animals. Obviously, none of the beautiful creatures, as unique and interesting as they were, could possibly meet the need of the man for a life companion.
How does God turn a not good into a Good?
The LORD God did something about the problem that looks a lot like death and resurrection.
God put Adam into a deep sleep, that He might perform a kind of surgery upon him. The first human blood was shed here, for God removed from the first man a side, (not a rib as the KJV says), but a side in the Hebrew. He took a side out of Adams flesh, to form a woman from Adams side. Then the LORD God had to close up the flesh of Adam. (Was this the first scar?)
The woman, who came out of Adams side, was different from Adam, but she was complimentary to him. Both of them comprise the image of God, for it is written, Male and female created He them in His Image . . .. But the woman was fashioned in a different and more refined way than the man. Man was formed out of the dust of the earth, the soil. But woman was fashioned out of the side of man, refined and refashioned soil.
Even the order of Creation is significant. Man was created first, then woman. The woman was formed as a help suitable to the man. Centuries later when the apostle Paul was teaching the church, he referred to the order of Creation as a reason why leadership in the church should primarily be male.
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve (1 Timothy 2:12-13).
Men and women are equal but different, according to the Word of God. Gender is not a mere human construct, as the spirit of this evil age insists. Male and female are, in fact, God assigned roles, based upon the mode and order of Creation. The deliberate repudiation of these roles is one of the ultimate expressions of the worlds final rebellion against God Himself.
As Adam came out of his deep sleep, he stood there before God, with the scar in his side, waiting to be presented by the LORD God, with the first womana creature of astonishing beauty and grace, no doubt.
This particular scene in the Scripture, foreshadows the final triumph, for the ultimate Groom also has a scar in His side, and awaits the time when the Father presents the Bride, the Lambs wife, the body of the Messiah, the church, purchased by His blood.
Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:23-25).
There is a wedding at very near the beginning of the Bible, and a wedding at the end of it. The union of man and wife is the fundamental human relationship. Before any other relationshipfather/son, brother/brother, or brother/sister, friend/friend, employer/employeethe fundamental and primal relationship is husband/wife.
This first wedding is of prophetic significance, because the original groom, who had a scar in his side, from which his wife was taken, foreshadows the ultimate Bridegroom, Jesus, out of whose side blood and water poured forth when they pierced Him, whilst He was paying the price for His bridal church, (which He purchased from sin with His own blood).
Centuries later the apostle Paul would reveal to us by divine revelation, something of what Adam had been given a glimpse of on that hopeful day,
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:31-32).
The mystery of marriage is that it is, in itself, a sign that points to a greater reality the love of the Messiah for His church. The word that God used when He said that He formed the woman out of Adams side, is the same word that will be used to describe Cain building a city. We will see in Genesis chapter 4 that in rebellion against God, Cain built a city of rebellion. Enoch, (means Inauguration), a New Start without God, for all of those who wish to leave the presence of the Lord and to make their own life on their own terms.
But God has built a bride for Adam, and He has been building a bridal city for the Messiah, the Bride, the Lambs wife, which is a bridal city of God,
And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lambs wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal (Revelation 21:9-11).
I think that piece of cloth is not fire 🔥 retardant, and wont protect anyone from from anything. The only fire retardant suit, that will work, if one can call it that, is the one given to us, by Jesus, when we have saving faith in Him.
By the way bro, do you think the children at Fatima actually saw a vision, or did they simply make up the whole thing. If they actually saw a vision, then it was a demon(s) masquerading as Mary. Why should that surprise anyone. Satan tries to appear as an angel of light. Someday, maybe in the not too distant future, God is going to whisper in Satans ear, your time is short. What a terrifying moment for him, his fallen angels, and all the earthlings who follow him. What is ironic about that, is the majority of people on earth, dont realize they are following Satan, until they wake up one day, in the flames. Then they will know. My goodness, they WILL know then. 👎
The verb is γένοιτό.
1096 gínomai properly, to emerge, become, transitioning from one point (realm, condition) to another. 1096 (gínomai) fundamentally means "become" (becoming, became) so it is not an exact equivalent to the ordinary equative verb "to be" (is, was, will be) as with 1510 /eimí (1511 /eínai, 2258 /ēn).http://biblehub.com/greek/1096.htm
It is an aorist, optative, middle, 3rd person, singular.
I highlight the optative mood as it is a rare use in the NT...less than 70.
Wallace classifies this usage as a Voluntative Optative.
The voluntative optative is the most common optative category in the NT.
The use of the optative in an independent clause expresses an obtainable wish or prayer. It is frequently an appeal to the will, in particular used in prayers.
This nuance of this usage appears to be a polite request without necessarily a hint of doubting what the response will be.
[Wallace, Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics, pp480-482]
I agree they saw something.
That something was an apparition proclaiming a false message.
When you compare what the apparition, and all of these apparitions have said, to Scripture you see the contradictions with Scripture.
A piece of cloth is not going to keep you out of the hell-fire. If you're depending on that, then you are heading to the hell-fire.
The NT is clear...there is only ONE way to avoid the hell-fire.....belief in Christ, and only Christ.
I have never claimed that I, nor any other Catholic, is a "sola scriptura" adherent. But I do think it's hypocritical that those adherents do make up stuff about Mary having born many children, Her sinfullness and Her Virginity even though there's no mention in scripture.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6 NASB
10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10 NASB
Do you believe what John and Paul wrote in these verses?
Stop avoiding the question:
Where does scripture say the Blessed Mother had many children?
Where does it say she ate lunch?
In Jewish culture, many children are conneccted with the blessing of God.
Mary was neither sinless, perpetually virgin, as Scripture records that she and Joseph did consummate their marriage, and she did have other children as Jesus was her FIRSTBORN.
Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.
But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
Psalm 69:8 I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother's sons.
Matthew 1:24-25 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
Matthew 12:46-47 While He was still speaking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. And someone said to Him, Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.
Matthew 13:55 Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?
Mark 6:2-3 And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands?... Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?
John 2:12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and there they stayed a few days.
John 7:2-5 Now the Jews Feast of Booths was at hand. So his brothers said to him, Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples also may see the works you are doing. For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world. For not even his brothers believed in him.
Acts 1:14 These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers
1 Corinthians 9:4-5 Do we not have a right to eat and drink? Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
Galatians 1:19 But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lords brother
Strong's Concordance

adelphos: a brother
Original Word: ἀδελφός, οῦ, ὁ
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: adelphos
Phonetic Spelling: (ad-el-fos')
Short Definition: a brother
Definition: a brother, member of the same religious community, especially a fellow-Christian.
Here is a link to the occurrences of the Greek word *adelphos*.
http://biblehub.com/greek/80.htm
The word *sister* (adelphe) in the Greek is the same.
http://biblehub.com/greek/79.htm
The word used is *brother* not *cousin*.
It can't mean a member of the same religious community in the context in which they occur, because then that would mean every man in Israel could be identified as Jesus' brother. So that would not identify Jesus as anyone in particular's brother.
It's not going to mean *brother in Christ* as that concept was not yet in place and the Jews, who knew Jesus as a Jew and knew His brothers as Jews, would not even begin to understand the new birth and what being in Christ meant.
They didn't even understand who JESUS was, much less being a *brother in Christ*.
The only definition left then, is to mean physical brother.
And it would not be *cousin*.
The word for *relative* that is used for Elizabeth is *suggenes*, not *adelphe*.

Strong's Concordance
suggenes: akin, a relative
Original Word: συγγενής, ές
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: suggenes
Phonetic Spelling: (soong-ghen-ace')
Short Definition: akin, a relative

Jesus participated fully in our humanity. He got hungry, thirsty, tired, experienced all the human emotions, was tempted in every way just as we are.
How can one fully participate in sharing our humanity by having a perfect mother and no siblings to have to deal with sibling rivalry?
As an only child there's no way He could have the joy of being part of a large family or being tormented by siblings as they set Him up cause they were sick of hearing *Why can't you be more like Jesus?*
Let's clear up something first....Mary is not the Blessed Mother.
She was a mother who was blessed. There is a difference.
The Roman Catholic wants a verse that says something along the lines of Joseph had sexual intercourse with Mary.
The context of the New Testament does not need that. Context is clear Joseph and Mary had a normal marriage with the intent of producing children.[If not, based on articles posted by you on how Roman Catholicism views marriage, their marriage would have been an invalid one.]
Matthew tells us Joseph kept her a virgin until Jesus was born.
After that they were free to consummate the marriage.
The RC appeal to the Protoevangelium of James for their false narrative of their children from Jospeh's prior marriage was rejected by the early church as it is not included in the NT canon.
That Rome did not include it in their canon at Trent is telling.
Can’t and wont answer the question, huh?
You simply will not take a public stand if you believe in Christ, and Christ alone for your salvation.
Yet you will affirm you trust a piece of cloth and a medal to keep you out of the hell fire.
Very telling, ebb...very telling.
No, you did not; because you can't.
Have a Happy Memorial Day; I'm out.
Well, when I was a Roman Catholic, sometime back in the last century, I was only familiar with Lourdes and Fatima. I guess there are other so called Mary appearances too, though I cannot recall any names or places. Somewhere along the line, I figure some of these are just made up fairy tales, but some of them may very well have seen real demon manifestations. That must be scary, being in the presence of demons, masquerading as Mary.
Then there is old Joe Smith. I think he made the whole thing up, but its possible that even he saw a demon manifestation too. The Mormons have their magic underwear, the Catholics have their scapulars, none of which will save anyone from anything. 🔥
reliance on the apparition for salvation/protection over reliance on only Christ.
Fatima:
Finally, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Most Holy Mother, consists in considering Her as the seat of mercy, of goodness and of pardon, and as the sure door of entering Heaven."
Guadalupe
It is my earnest wish that a temple be built here to my honor. Here I will demonstrate, I will exhibit, I will give all my love, my compassion, my help and my protection to the people. I am your merciful mother, the merciful mother of all of you who live united in this land, and of all mankind, of all those who love me, of those who cry to me, of those who seek me, of those who have confidence in me. Here I will hear their weeping, their sorrow, and will remedy and alleviate all their multiple sufferings, necessities and misfortunes."
Akita
Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved.
Medal of our Lady of Graces
Have a medal struck upon this model. Those who wear it will receive great graces, especially if they wear it around the neck.
These are some of the more popular apparitions and some of their sayings.
None is Scriptural and in fact, all contradict Scripture.
I call upon all Roman Catholics to throw away their scapulars, medals, idols of Mary, etc and begin to follow Christ and trust only God for salvation and answered prayers.
But you DO claim Roman 'tradition' or ELSE!!
Hello Rome!
You KNOW you claim those are COUSINS; not BROTHERS.
does any Catholic have a CLUE as to what WIVES and HUSBANDS do when the lights are out??
