[CATHOLIC CAUCUS]
The head of the Vatican department overseeing liturgy is summoning the Catholic faithful to return to receiving Holy Communion on the tongue and kneeling.
In the preface to a new book on the subject, Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, writes: The most insidious diabolical attack consists in trying to extinguish faith in the Eucharist, by sowing errors and fostering an unsuitable way of receiving it. Truly the war between Michael and his Angels on one side, and Lucifer on the other, continues in the hearts of the faithful.
Satans target is the Sacrifice of the Mass and the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated Host.
The new book, by Don Federico Bortoli, was released in Italian under the title: The distribution of Communion on the hand, a historical, juridical and pastoral survey [La distribuzione della comunione sulla mano. Profili storici, giuridici e pastorali].
Recalling the centenary of apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima, Sarah writes that the Angel of Peace who appeared to the three shepherd children in advance of the Virgins visit shows us how we should receive the Body and the Blood of Jesus Christ. His Eminence then identifies the outrages by which Jesus is offended today in the Holy Eucharist, including so-called intercommunion.
Sarah goes on to consider how faith in the Real Presence can influence the way we receive Communion, and vice versa, and he proposes Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa as two modern saints whom God had given us to imitate in their reverence and reception of the Holy Eucharist.

Always receive the Eucharist on your tongue.
Don’t believe me?
Read the book by Maria Simma about the Poor Souls in Purgatory — “Get Us Out of Here!”

This reminds me of people saying, when I say I believe the lost are destroyed (don’t suffer for eternity) they say I’m listening to false teaching that tickles the ear because it’s too “easy”.
My response is, “Yeah, and what do you call the ‘saved by grace’ message?”
i.e. Jesus and the apostles made it very clear what communion was all about: As often as you do this, do it in remembrance of me.
My wife and I do it at home sometimes after a meal. It’s between us and Jesus.
When the Latin was gone and the Eucharist was put in hand and I had to shake hands with someone of unknown cleanliness, I started to withdraw.
I thought it was to stop the spread of infectious diseases in third world crapholes.................
On your tongue from consecrated hands.
That’s not how Jesus Ser ed it to the men from Emmaus
As an abandoned episcopal - I dont see much difference from kneeling and receiving the Eucharist in the hand vs on the tongue.
I agree theres a difference in intimacy and for that I do think all should drink from a shared chalice vs a plate of Dixie cups for the wine...
But then I was an episcopalian so I was always a communion is symbolic kinda guy!
Im more interested in the inward spiritual grace. Outward signs a little less.
I have recently read and understood the importance of receiving the Host on the tongue.
The convincing phrase was “Consecrated Hands”.
It means not only does the Body of Christ only touch the Priests hands, but that I not touch the Chalice either, so I no longer take the wine.
This also means that I make an effort to get in the line to receive from the Priest, and NOT the extraordinary ministers, as their hands are NOT “Consecrated”.
It is not always possible to get into the line with a Priest, but we should make that effort.
Yes! It says right in Matthew 26:26 that Jesus broke the bread and put it individually on each disciples tongue. How have we missed this all these years.
Can there be stupider argument to have?
Probably.
But not many...
This type of liturgical silliness distracts us from the more important ways God speaks to us in our daily lives.

“...When Latin was gone...started to withdraw...”
I started attending only the Trideinnte Latin mass and now feel at peace when I leave mass. Before when I attended the novus ordo, I was agitated upon departure, having been anxious about the handshake, listening to light sounding “ditties” inserted randomly into the liturgy for music, “God” replaced with the pronoun Him, etc.
I recommend considering attending the Tridentine Latin. I go to a diocesan approved mass (run by the local Carmelites).
oops sorry - typo - Tridentine Latin mass
Good Lord! is this a Christian religion? They worship the process but ignore the substance of Christ’s teaching.
As a recovering Catholic, now on the outside looking in, I often shake my head at the weird stuff I was brainwashed into thinking has any importance at all.
I now know God directly, and my life has never been better. I have peace and joy.
I don’t go to church, ever. Not needed.
Read the book by Maria Simma about the Poor Souls in Purgatory Get Us Out of Here!
Better yet, read Gods book, the Scriptures, and see this doesnt matter...
