False Teacher Rob Bell Claims: ‘Jesus Would Be Mortified Someone Started a Religion in His Name’

A new documentary called “The Heretic,” which centers on false teacher Rob Bell, is set to be released on March 1, and features a number of statements that are already raising concern, such as, “The Bible has caused so much damage” and “Jesus would be absolutely mortified that someone started a religion in His name.”

Bell explained in a Facebook post on Feb. 1 that he had been approached by filmmaker Andrew Morgan about creating a film surrounding his work and controversial views, which many decry as being apostate and heretical.

“A few years ago, the filmmaker Andrew Morgan approached Kristen and I about making a documentary film about my work. We have great respect for Andrew, so we said yes, and he began filming tours and RobCasts and events and interviews,” he outlined. “I can’t imagine just how much footage he captured. The result is a new film that he is preparing to release. It’s called ‘The Heretic.'”

Noting that Bell has “raised a lot of eyebrows” among Christians, the production features clips from both those opposed to Bell and those in favor of him, from Franklin Graham, who forthrightly called Bell a “heretic,” to Carlton Pearson, who praised the former “pastor” of Mars Hill in Michigan as being a “paradigm shifter.”

Well, since Christianity is essentially named after his title and not his name, I can see what he is saying... </sarc>

I’ve always believed that Jesus was trying to reform Judaism, not start a new religion.

Humanity failed.

Seems like Christian is a perfectly fine Biblical word.

1 Peter 4:16 - Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name

Acts 11:26 - and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.

Acts 26:28 - And Agrippa said to Paul, “In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?”

There’s no way in hell Jesus envisioned or would have approved of a freakin’ “Pope.” Or idol worship of his mother.

You really do need to read the Gospel of John. Jesus tells us clearly what He is about and why He came.

JOH3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Time is really short!

I think that is what it is. At least, that is kinda how I see it.

I think that is why he said that in salvation Jews are our allies but in regards to the message they are the enemy.

Well, spending any effort responding to Rob Bell is the definition of futility.

OTOH - isn’t it amazing how a religion was started in Obama’s name? And it obtained millions of admirers and adherents all around the globe. /s

Oh, He did indeed 'envisioned' all manner of things that would be done in His name... He spoke all about those that sit in the seat of Moses... like reading today's 'news' reports... He repeatedly warned about those that come in His name...

Jesus was the answer from the beginning. The fulfillment, or culmination of the Law. Humanity would never be able to succeed and God in His mercy provided a way back to relationship with Him. Sadly, some still reject Jesus and all continue to fail.

Not so much reform as fulfill. Judaism always pointed to the coming Messiah. many of the rituals and ordinances were made void upon His Crucifixion. The coming of Jesus on earth was the second greatest event to happen to mankind (after Creation).

Rob Bell challenges Biblical Orthodoxy with sarcastic questions very much like Satan (e.g. “did God really say you will surely die?”) His rejection of Biblical truth and introduction of “doctrines of Demons” reveals who is inspiring him. Those who air condition or deny Hell are certain to arrive there!

How would Jesus get his name out then, making everyone aware of all the free stuff he was giving to us?

Facebook?

Umm. No. I don’t think The Creator of the Universe, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Alpha & Omega gets mortified by anything.

Idiot.

>> There’s no way in hell Jesus envisioned or would have approved of a freakin’ “Pope.” <<

Matthew 16:19 says otherwise.

One thing can be certain of is there's no way in hell Jesus envisioned or would have approved of 33,000 different protestant denominations all teaching different Christian doctrines but claiming they have the truth, when the only thing they can agree on they hate the Pope. Not surprisingly, this is why they didn't show up on the scene until sixteen hundred years after Jesus walked the earth. Must suck for you that the first three quarters of Chrisitan history had to make due with a freakin' Pope.
