On Sunday, as Hurricane Harvey began to crush parts of Texas, Joel Osteen, pastor of Houston megachurch Lakewood, tweeted that his church was inaccessible due to severe flooding, and then let his Twitter followers know that they could go to an area shelter should they need help.
Followers who were near the church then took video and photos of the severe flooding to show that the roads and entrance to the church were actually accessible. Those on Twitter then began bashing the pastor, who quickly blocked those on social media who called him out.
Lakewood church staff began posting photos of their own, showing that parts of the parking area were, in fact, flooded. Shortly after that, the narrative started to shift. The news became that the church had always been willing to help, but church officials were more comfortable with the facility being used as a supply station rather than a shelter. They would, however, allow the church to become an emergency shelter if all of the area shelters were filled.

Every tragedy, there are individuals and businesses that show their character with their early, unscripted responses. If he had done something without thinking about it like donating $10 million dollars for necessities (for example) no one would’ve noticed that his church was closed.
When your pastor is a frequent guest on 'Oprah' and she attends a service, you're in the wrong church.
If after you having your church remodeled and you invite Nancy Pelosi for the grand opening and she actually shows up...You're in the wrong church.
Not a church, wanted to keep business clean and maximize profits. Should lose all non-profit status and protections.
Whatever one thinks of Joel Osteen remember he doesn’t force anyone to give a dime whereas the Federal or State Govt can legally extort your tax money or else take portions or all you have.
I saw him on fox business. Maria bartiromo this morning. It sounded to me like they shut down from thursday to monday because of the storm itself. Then opened again Monday or Tuesday.

the church is the old Compaq Center which is where the Houston Rockets used to play... it was built and finished in 1975 by the city so they should know the property well
and would know what its suitable for or not suitable for...and supposedly was listed as a place unfit for floods relief as it tends to be in a low area and flood
how stupid would it be to evacuate flood victims to a place right in the middle of downtown Houston in to a place that tends to flood...
you would not want people isolated in the city center instead of getting people outside the city
it could of been another Superdome disaster... that was the primary problem with the Superdome that couldn’t get supplies into get into it as it was right in downtown surrounded by all the disaster

The fact of the matter is that the ravening-mad media is looking for ANYONE to blame during this Texas/Louisiana deluge time....it's having trouble pinning anything concrete on the President or FEMA....so anyone else will do in the vacuum.
Who better than a white, wealthy, southern, Christian evangelist to strike out at with all the media venom it can muster ???
Osteen fits the above five media enemies in all categories...i.e..... white, male, rich, Christian and an EVANGELIST (horrors!)

Meh... thats only a 1 bedroom single wide. Decent shed for the mower though.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.--Jesus from Mathew 6:33 NIV
But as long as luxury and a miraculous cruise to Easy Street is what was in one's mind when they toss more than they can afford into the collection plate, they are not seeking first the Kingdom of God. For the sake of Joel and those who are fooled by him, I hope they read the rest of Mathew 6 and takes it to heart.
After 5 years in the third grade, I can relate. I envied those that went on to fourth grade until they graduated me. Then I realized that I was on the fastest track. Thank God for finding a loophole.
But, but, but wait, he didn’t get his money from the church. He got it all from selling his books. /s
The two aren’t related?
The whole affair is a racket. He is a BABBLE THUMPER. But I should not judge.
Speaking of in the wrong church, to what church do you belong?
Osteen is a skunk at an evangelical garden party.
I actually worry about him and pray for him...because he is, by his example, leading folks toward hell.
i watched a pastor and his flock wading through the flood waters getting people out. This guy deserves everything that is thrown his way.
“So, ask yourself, of all the churches, civic buildings, schools, lecture halls, and other facilities, why is this ONE facility hte one that is all over facebook being attacked for not being a shelter?”
Not an Osteen follower either. But you nailed it. That’s exactly the question.
