* Church of England suggests offering transgender Christians re-christenings
* Move is believed to provoke a furious backlash among some traditionalists
* Last year committee said rules that might stop people changing sex should be abolished
The Church of England yesterday suggested it will offer transgender Christians re-christenings with their new names.
Vicars cannot re-baptise those who have changed sex but could use existing services of welcome to announce a new name before God, the most senior official said.
The advice is likely to be endorsed next month by the Churchs parliament, the General Synod.
It will ease pressure on Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby from liberals who want to see the churchs conservative rules on sex and marriage swept away. But it is likely to provoke a furious backlash among some traditionalists.
The CofEs most senior official, Synod Secretary General William Nye, said in a paper sent to Synod members: It is a fundamental belief of the Church that baptism can only be received once.
There is therefore no possibility of the Synod approving a form of service for the re-baptism of transgendered persons in their new gender who have already been baptised. But he said the CofE can have no objection if they want to have an Affirmation of Baptismal Faith service in a new name.

What is it with Churches these days?
They’re all losing their minds.
Not all of course, but many.
Move is believed to provoke a furious backlash among some traditionalists
You don’t say.
God will not be mocked.

Christenings are secular BS, in no way equivalent to Baptism...
So, when you remove and rearrange body parts you get a new soul?
Irrelevant, most people in England are already either atheist or Muslim.
It worse than that. They're losing their souls.
....”It worse than that...They’re losing their souls”.....
The church of England will have the wrath of God shown them all in good time.....meanwile best to walk away from that church and find another fellowship.... this stuff rots every one who comes in contact with it.
Theyre all losing their minds.
Michael Savage hit the nail on the head years ago: liberalism is a mental illness.
Whack a pee-pee, get a soul.
After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass. The priest sprinkled holy water over him and said, You were born a Baptist and raised as a Baptist, but now you are Catholic.
Bubbas neighbors were greatly relieved, until Friday night arrived and the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood. The priest was called immediately by the neighbors.
As the priest rushed into Bubbas yard, clutching a rosary and prepared to scold him, he stopped and watched in amazement.
There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water, which he carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat while chanting, You wuz born a deer, you wuz raised a deer, but now you are a catfish.
Kind of like making a contract with Ursula the sea witch. The mer-people sold their souls for legs.
Ditto: that is what I was pondering.
Why don’t they just have a pride parade and bathe in others bodily fluids?
They’ve made it pretty clear they don’t want to follow the religion or church teachings so, why bother pretending to need their approval?
Isn’t the soul that is baptized? This is what happens when you continually change your doctrine to suit the times instead of trying to lead souls to heaven. Sad.
Time for the Anglican communion to cut off the gangrenous CofE and the US Episcopalian churches. Declare that whatever they call themselves, they are *not* Anglican any more.
Protestants have ALWAYS thought it O.K. to make up their own rules....sad.
It’s the “person” who is baptized. Since human beings, unlike angels, are, by God’s will, composite beings, that comprises soul and body.
That bring said, since reassignment surgery, wrongly so called, is a form of sexual mutilation, forbidden by both Divine and Natural Law.
So does Pope Francis... sad..
