We washed half of the shroud of Turin in plain detergent and the other half in detergent and new blood bleach, to prove new blowout is better at getting those supernatural stains out.

I stopped watching after Jesus had long hair and the Bible was against long hair, but didn’t define how long, long was...

Attracting believers is not what these types are about. They want to stand on the hill and look down on everyone with scorn.

My girlfriend might be an alien too and with supernatural powers. When I mention “mall” or “shoe sale”, she disappears into thin air and re-appears at that store.

Could this be in any way connected to the mysterious repeated disappearance of certain sums of money from your bank account at about the same time?

"For example, I just finished watching a video there that said that aliens live among us.

I believe that.... Have you actually LOOK at some of the people on the left....the snow flakes.?? Or even some of the politicians... I don't know ANYBODY that looks like that....

Christ worked many wonders and yet people still found ways to ignore what they saw with their own eyes and walk away.

This is why it is often called a LEAP of faith. You have to commit.

I believe Christ loved us enough to leave signs for future generations, to help them. If, as in the time of Christ, some people need signs, they are there to help them make the leap. I believe the Shroud is real, and is one of those helps.

This is one of the reasons Peter was special— he made the leap.

“I never said a word about “explanations.” I referred to evidence.”

Understood. The Aquinas quote was not directed at you, rather the faithless trolls on threads such as these.

Regarding the “Shroud”..there's an abundance of twisting and turning to somehow “prove” it's authentic and to oddly demonstrate the power of the risen Christ by “bursts of energy” etc.....from a piece of old cloth?

We already know that with all the historical evidence there is no historic incident better or more variously supported than the resurrection of Christ, including his own words... “I am the resurrection”....

The resurrection is a historical fact—not just some philosophical ideal or idea. ..and certainly the power of God in raising him from the dead hardly could be contained in an old piece of fabric when in fact the 500 plus, both friend and foe, who ‘saw him’ after the resurrection and recorded as such certainly is far more powerful.

Hard archaeological evidence is one thing but chasing a fragment of cloth as is done with the shroud is a stretch at best when there is otherwise evidences of the resurrection far established and superior.

This is a difficult artifact to evaluate. It is frankly presented as supernatural. So quibbles about spices would be beside the point.

The acid test of an artifact is, what are the people who behold it moved to do? And here we must be humble. The proverbial plastic Jesus might move someone to a better worship of the real Jesus. Piling up details about the Shroud may be besides the point if it doesn’t get people praising Him for what He did.

I think there is a humble way to accept Shroud evidence. It never was intended to have an utterly scientific explanation. Work that shows it stumps science is propitious.

Now we should ask what it tells us about Jesus. Most obviously He died and was resurrected in a strangely radiant manner. The Shroud, to a humble heart, testifies that our sins are gone and that we have new life of an unusual kind.

And so does the bible, of course. But perhaps bible concentration has gone so snobbish that we won’t even look at what the bible tells us about and then let God speak through that, too.

Thank you so much for this information. I have heard that the nose and knees of the image of the Shroud were shown to be scraped raw - the explanation being that the Cross that Jesus bore was a plank of wood carried on his shoulders and his arms outstretched and tied to it, so that whenever he fell he was unable to break the fall with his hands and would land on his knees or face down.

Is that accurate as far as you know?

I know that one; my wife has her own credit cards, but I gave her one of mine in case her’s didn’t work in time of emergency.

She had an emergency and had to buy $300 worth of shoes at Nordstrom’s on my card.

“had to buy $300 worth of shoes at Nordstrom’s on my card.”

Sounds about right for a woman’s “emergency”.

I had an ex-GF who used my $200 that I wanted for her to put on a wedding registry for a friend of mine. She ended up using that $200 to buy one blouse in Beverly Hills, and used the rest for Starbucks. Her excuse was “but you love me, right?”
