Why I Have Decided to Leave the Catholic Church
timstaples.com ^ | April 1, 2016 | Tim Staples

Posted on 04/01/2016 12:41:08 PM PDT by Berlin_Freeper

I am letting you be among the first to know. It is true. I am leaving the Catholic Church. I want you to know that this has not been a decision made in haste or without serious and intense research and consideration. But I can no longer remain in a church that I no longer believe in.

Let me explain.

I will be writing more about this soon, but for now let me just say there are five main reasons why I am leaving the Catholic Church:

1. I believe the sole rule of faith for Christians has to be Scripture. The Holy Bible is the only unchanging and definitive word of God that a Christian can build his or her life upon. Everything else, including the Catholic claims to authority, in the end, amount to ever-changing and ultimately sinking sand.

2. I believe works or any sense of salvific cooperation with God’s grace as constitutive to a Christian’s eternal life is unbiblical. “… not of works” (cf. Eph. 2:8-9) means not of works.

3. The idea of Mary and the saints being involved in the salvation of a Christian is tantamount to a denial of the sufficiency of Christ’s redeeming work on Calvary’s cross.

4. #3 can also be said of Purgatory, the “sacrifice” of the Mass, the Catholic view of salvation/justification, and more. These and more of the elements of Catholic teaching result in a denial of the sufficiency of the sacrifice of Christ. More to follow in a more detailed post.

5. What Catholics call the “veneration” of Mary and the saints is actually idolatry.

These are just for starters here. Many of you know that for the last 28 years I have defended the above teachings and more from the Catholic Church. I can no longer do so in clear conscience.

And by the way, just so you know…

Calling priests father came from the same group of priests who introduced private confession, take it up with them.

And they were wrong about the title of *Father* so we should believe them just why about other things?

Call no man father

Matthew 23:1-12 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice.

They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger. They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi by others.

But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Sure it does, always did, always will...

Where in that scripture (or for that matter, ANY scripture) does it say that a man, elected by fallible men, will have the ability to declare something perfectly and infallibly? And please, do not try the old canard of, "well, no where in the Bible is "Trinity" mentioned, but we believe that...." The Trinity is CLEAR in the Bible.

However -- there is NOTHING, clear or inferred, in the Bible for purgatory, papacy, papal infallibility, Mariolatry, the "immaculate conception" and assumption of Mary....Scripture is SILENT.

Silence does NOT provide license to assume. Yet that is exactly the way the RCC operates.

So... again, WHERE does it say ANYTHING about papal infallibility in Scripture?

the catholic encyclopedia online even admits there is no scriptural support for the “immaculate conception”! yet catholics insist it’s in there.

Without the Catholic church, or a Roman historian, you wouldn't even know that Jesus Christ existed.

O RLY?

So... God Almighty would be prevented from the spreading of the Gospel, the glory and truth of Christ Jesus ALL BECAUSE of the Roman Catholic Church or a Roman historian? Really? Wow. The "God" you guys worship really isn't much of a god. The one, true, living God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is omnipotent -- sovereign -- holy, just, perfect, omniscient an omnipresent. Man holds NO sway over God.

Romans 9:20
"But who are you, O man, ato answer back to God? bWill what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”

So... I don't think the Roman Catholic Church did ANYTHING to provide us knowledge of Christ. In fact, we have knowledge of Christ DESPITE the Roman Catholic Church.

Man holds NO sway over God. Ah, but in the Roman Catholic religion their priests command and the Jesus of their religion obeys, to continue being physically eaten on the catholic altars as the continual victim ... we are all repeating the mistake of considering catholiciism as a denominational variant IN Christianity, when it, catholiciism is actually a rehash of the Nimrod cult cum Baal worship. All one need do is make a comparison of the rituals and practices, the assertions of the priests of Baal and the similarities are revealed!

Close enough??? Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. You claimed to have solid scriptural support and “no room for error”. It’s quite clear that you DON’T, not even close.

“Ahhhhh, sola scriptura......nothing ever happened if it wasn’t in scripture.....O.K., I guess.” Then you changed it to claiming that sS means Scripture alone, which is not the same thing as your first posited. Do try to keep your red herrings straight.

Both statements mean the same thing, nothing happened if it isn't in scripture and scripture alone....what's the difference.......you claimed that the Immaculate Conception and Assumption didn't happen because they weren't mentioned in scripture.....sheesh.

The “sacrament of reconciliation”? Wrong. It’s called the Ministry of Reconciliation and ALL Christians are to preach the gospel and reconcile all to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17-19
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

So far, I have found that every heresy in catholiciism can be traced back to the original Nimrod religion of the ancient Babylonian period. the more one sees this transference from the ancient pagan religion (they even ate the food sacrificed to the idol in order to get the idol’s life in them), the more it is looking like catholiciism on the seven hills is Baal process reborn for modern man. Would that make catholiciism/the Vatican religion, a whore of Babylon?

You have an extraordinarily weird imagination and come up with the most bizarre explanations for your statements that I have ever seen.....nimrod.....whore of Babylon......please!!

You quote a passage from the Catholic Bible to point out that they did not bring you the word of Christ.

God used the Catholic church to spread and protect the word of God throughout the ages. Could He have done it differently??....of course, but He didn't If you did not have the Bible, how would you even know that Christ existed????

Thanks for posting that. How much do you want to bet that the SAME false meaning gets repeated by the SAME poster (maybe even in the SAME thread) regardless? 😄

If it were up to the Roman Catholic Church no one would have had the Bible. I will agree that God used the Roman Catholic Church to spread his Word -- when the "Church" started burning at the stake people like Tyndale, Huss and Wycliffe along with a raft of others, for translating the Bible into English or other vernacular languages, God's Word--Scripture--flourished and spread even more.

Since you seem to think the RCC is the only reason, check the "Catholic" Bible for this verses (and should the RCC should have paid attention to them):
Romans 1:18-20:
"18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse."

Seems like we know about God from all the things around us as well. So We have the Bible DESPITE the RCC, not necessarily because of it. We have God's Word because of God.

It only means that everything necessary, everything binding on our consciences, and everything God requires of us is given to us in Scripture (2 Peter 1:3).

I keep asking our FR Catholics what is MISSING from Scripture that is NEEDED for man's salvation; but have NEVER gotten a clear, concise answer.

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

You mean like a place where we are actually commanded to hold fast to them?

Any place you are able list them: go ahead.

So... again, WHERE does it say ANYTHING about papal infallibility in Scripture?

Silly Prot!

You KNOW that our beloved pope is ONLY infallible in matters of doctrine and some other thing.

It's true; you won't find it in Scripture (heck, POPE ain't even there!;) but we KNOW it's true because Rome has TOLD us it's true!
