A bit of good news to share: A reliable source has informed me that Father John Corapi, a popular priest among orthodox Catholics who departed public life after a tumultuous period a few years ago, remains in the priesthood and is re-establishing his spiritual life.
There's no indication he'll be returning to public life anytime soon, if ever. However, it's nice to know that Father Corapi can at least be a quiet prayer warrior during this extremely difficult time in the Church and world.
I won't go into the particulars about what transpired in the past – it's water under the bridge – and I'm sure there's information on the Internet (some of it more reliable than other information, obviously) for those who may not be familiar with the situation. Plus, those who really didn't pay attention to him in the first place likely don't care one way or the other about his current status.
The bottom line is that we all are wounded and spiritually/morally fall often (I know I do!). We just have to try our best to keep moving forward in faith in this "valley of tears." A very difficult task, I must say. That doesn't mean condoning moral corruption or remaining silent about it, but we all need God's mercy.

Hmm. He makes no denial but just attacks the accuser as being crazy. Sounds like Clinton.

Chews on things for awhile then they get sour and he spits them out. Later, he tries another chaw. Same-same.
In the time right before he disappeared from the public eye, it was clear that, both physically and mentally, he wasn't quite himself. Whether this was due the stress of the persecution he was under (real or imagined) no one can say. If he does come back in some public way, I hope it is with his mind and vigor intact, as he would again be a great asset to the Church. In any case, he should be in our prayers.
Perhaps he has been humbled and is no longer blaming others for his spiritual troubles. We should be heartened by the news he is starting over as a priest.
That is obviously from the past when he was probably justifying his actions. That is the whole thing owning our sins and asking forgiveness sincerely.
As for me I just hope he’s right with God.
Praying for him at this time seems the best thing to do for me.

I agree; it’s up to Fr. Corapi to make the announcement, and hopefully, provide the faithful with a [sincere] apology, if this news is accurate. I’ve written the author regarding this piece, but he hasn’t written back. My guess is there are scores of others who have done so as well.
I loved Father Corapi and saw him as a man’s priest, which to a great extent is a type mostly missing among the priesthood in the modern Catholic Church, in the West, as priests have turned over the sacred things to women and girls; in leadership, at the Alter, Holy Communion, the Adoration Chapel; as well as running RCIA, the charitable and social actions, the clubs, the Bible School, the Bible studies, the office, the newsletters, the parish councils, the elementary schools, and frequently, the plant.
Corapi drew men deeper into their faith, sought them out and taught them. He revived their manhood and brought them Mary and The Rosary.
For all these things he remains appreciated and his type sorely missed.
I believe he suffered addiction and that his fall was a result— something we saw happening before our very eyes.
I am not surprised that he may be in intensive mental health counseling, including spiritual counseling, and I certainly wish him mercy and peace. His salvation is most important, whether he ever returns to teaching again.
Thanks be to God if he is just out of that awful state of mind and if he has been able to depart from that hold on him of the darker life. It is usually a life long battle against addictions and I am happy to pray for his healing.

He is deeply wounded by his past, his addictions, and recovery itself can be its own private hell. These life experiences of his can not be instantly healed, as if this were all simply a matter of dealing with an uncooperative, rebellious adolescent.
Certainly he is not capable of racing to a microphone to explain himself and allay everyone’s morbid curiosity about his degree of contrition and the intimate details of the Hell he has experienced, laying out his sufferings for us to peruse and examine, as if shopping cantaloupes.
It should be his spiritual, physical and mental health we should be concerned for, rather than hoping for a press conference to please ourselves. He is after all very ill and wounded.

from the beginning of his priesthood he was embellishing and lying about his background and experiences and that was the root of his problems which led back to his addictions.
No, he will never be back as a public presenter. Too many lies and embellishments.
Morbid curiosity and intimate details? No, I don’t think so. Many know more than they ever wished they knew to begin with. Just an honest apology would be welcomed. Considering the height of his popularity, it should be expected.
I quite agree with you, although I have seen no proof from a dateline as to how early it was when his embellishments and deceit of his experiences first emerged in his priesthood.
There are standards of investigation applied to all acolytes, by the Church, that may or may not be verify that, but I haven’t seen that kind of detail released. Of course, all of those behaviors became especially noticeable during his fall and quite amplified, that’s for sure.

Yes, good priests do have their lives destroyed by false accusations, but you know, sometimes the accusations are real...
I’ve always been concerned for his well being.
That being said, he made a very public spectacle of himself and was publically and openly defiant towards the Church and insinuated that the Church was after him and was after him because he was the lone orthodox voice in the wilderness! Bull crap!
His very public downfall caused a lot of strife within the members of the Church. He was happy to allow people to fight with each other over him. I was publically calumniated on the internet for having the audacity to disagree with his actions! If he has indeed come back into the fold, he should try to at least fix the damage that he has done to the Church by making some kind of public statement. I don’t need to see a press conference nor do I really want to.
He seemed pretty legit to me in the beginning. When he showed up much thinner, with a a goatee and dyed eyebrows he started to lose my interest.
