But the independent senator from Vermont , who is vying to be the Democratic partys 2016 presidential nominee, has been booked to speak there next month at a university convocation.
It goes without saying that my views on many issues -- womens rights, gay rights, education and many other issues -- are very different from the opinions of some in the Liberty University community, Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist who is Jewish, said Wednesday night, in comments relayed by a spokesman.
But Sanders said he would like to see if we can reach consensus regarding the grotesque level of income and wealth inequality in our country, about the collapse of the middle class, about the high level of childhood poverty, about climate change and other issues.

Wasn’t Liberty U where Ted Cruz launched his presidential campaign?
Wait ‘til the POTUS pardon bucks roll in....
2017 will be party time for Baraq & Mooch.
Headline changed alert.
If Ted Cruz were invited to speak at Berkley, there would be protests and boycotts. An open mind will listen to all sides, no matter how wacky.
Yes it is, but Convocation, where students on campus are required to attend, is typically used as “spiritual growth/chapel” type sessions. Bernie is a socialist that supports MOST everything that goes against God’s Word. Why is he speaking-—we called down to Liberty and they answered “Diversity and tax exemption protection”. I’m utterly sick of the comprising Christian!
The late Dr. Jerry Falwell had Ted Kennedy down to speak in the 1980’s. I can handle this......
Compromising with bad policy is like adding a little sewage to your drinking water.
I’m not entirely against having left-wing whack-jobs speak just so the students can know the dark forces they are dealing with. it is too bad that places like Columbia and Berkeley doesn’t grant our side similar opportunity.
Will Bernie wear his Yarmulke?
we can reach consensus regarding the grotesque level of income and wealth inequality in our country.............
LOWER all Federal tax rates and the economy will boom and everyone will make and keep more money
about the collapse of the middle class...................
SEE answer above.
about climate change and other issues.................
Yes we agree. The climate changes all the time has since the beginning of time. Satisfied?
Never liked Falwell and Liberty U isn't my cup of tea. But, it's hard to complain about closed mindedness when they engage in open dialog with the left. You never see this from Democrats.
