While firmly upholding Church teaching regarding contraception, Pope Francis clarified that good Catholics need not mate like rabbits, or wasp spiders, with the female devouring the male following the procreative act.
Openness to life for the husband, the pontiff said to reporters on his return flight from the Philippines, is a condition for the sacrament of matrimony. Catholic couples should practice mutual love and tenderness, he explained, rather than the female catching her partner in a web and slowly gnawing on him while hes still alive, resulting in his slow, agonizing death.

okay...that’s kinda creepy
Okay, that’s got to be satire.
Listen up! Catholics should not do this:
This is somebody’s lame idea of satire. What he actually said was bad enough.
Are you referring to the phrase about not breeding like rabbits? That sounds like pretty good advice to me! I like this pope. He's plain spoken.
Ah, but there are a bunch of other critters with bizarre mating habits the Pope did not address.
For example porcupines, and white-fronted parrots, but I’m not going to say why.
Anti-rabbit!!!
Anti-wasp!!!
When he came for the rabbits, I wasn’t a rabbit, so I didn’t say anything.
When he came for the wasps, I wasn’t a wasp (except in the acronym sense), so I didn’t say anything.
When he came ...
I was just reading that 48 percent of the first born today are born to unwed mothers so maybe Pope has undue concern unless all or many of the unwed mothers are catholic.
Pope strongly defends Catholic teaching against contraception
Manila, Philippines Pope Francis issued his strongest defense yet of church teaching opposing artificial contraception, using a Friday rally in Asia's largest Catholic nation to urge families to be "sanctuaries of respect for life."
Francis also denounced the corruption that has plagued the Philippines for decades and urged officials to instead work to end its "scandalous" poverty and social inequalities during his first full day in Manila, where he received a rock star's welcome at every turn.
"Be sanctuaries of respect for life, proclaiming the sacredness of every human life from conception to natural death," Francis exhorted the crowd. "What a gift this would be to society if every Christian family lived fully its noble vocation."
Francis also urged families to be on guard against what he called "ideological colonization," an apparent reference to gay marriage, which isn't legal in the Philippines. The church opposes gay marriage, holding that marriage is only between man and wife.
Most non-Catholics like this Pope. He is plain spoken,if you mean he is ever contradictory with both Church Doctrine and his own previous words, often spoken only moments earlier.
IE: He is a blow hard who should Shut UP and think before he talks.
He is in the business of saving souls, not public relations and the idea that secular media and half interested Protestants ‘like him’ is a dead give away that he is doing something wrong.
I was just reading that 48 percent of the first born today are born to unwed mothers.
So I don`t think it is a Catholic problem but just plain evil or stupidity.
Hilarious !
ROFLOL!
“... porcupines and white-fronted parrots, but I’m not going to say why”.
You big tease... WHY?!! :)
Sex is not the only reason for marriage and a relationship built only on sex will not last when our bodies are no longer deemed "attractive" for the sole purpose of sex. We must always work to master our passions, lest they become obsessions that take us away from the the true meaning and purpose of life.
Which is ... all together now class....God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.
See even we post Vat II brats know that. ;)
Funny how he doesn’t tell his Muslim buddies this.
“Be fruitful and multiply” keeps ringing in my ears....
Amen!

Well said, and reminds me of 1 Thessalonians 4:
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God...”
