Our diocese is boys only, ping!
I was not happy about her serving, but no one asked my opinion.
And so.....One day I went to church...and no one was around. I climbed over the railing. Knelt down near the bells....just like my bro always did.
And with great reverence, I rang those bells three times....reciting mea culpa.
Then climbed back over the rail, genuflected and walked out of the church.
I'm sure that God had tears in his eyes from laughing so hard.
In the end, let the boys do it. They're entitled to space.
Our daughters will not. Our priest has never had female alter servers, and the new bishop supports that.
Prayers for our Catholic friends to help keep the traditions that made them strong and chase the servants of the beast out of the house of God.
I don’t mean Catholic girls. I do mean false popes and others undermining the church.

Our parish priest will only have boys serve but the huge church down the road has mostly girls. I only go there a couple times a year when Holy Day Mass times are in conflict with work schedules, etc. I’ve never seen a boy on the altar at the big church. The homilies sound like they came from a psychiatrist’s self help blog or something. I keep wishing that my priest could be loaned out for a month so he could reach all of those Catholics. They’d be shocked to the core at his amazing ability to teach the faith. I imagine there would be a few complaints, too. :0) I love my priest! So blessed to have him so close to our new home!
...and bishop-delegate of the Diocese of Burlington (VT).
The little Catholic church I attend in Union City, OK, seems to pretty much split down the middle. About half the servers are boys and half girls. I really don’t have a problem with that.
Well in my church boys didn’t want do it anymore so they “slip by the rule by only altar boys”
I understand reason why some of families got tired of my previous pastor PC BS crap
>>[T]his practice of placing girls at the altar has absolutely nothing to do with Vatican II and was condemned in the strongest of terms twice following the council. In 1970 Pope Paul VI said in Liturgicae Instaurationes, In conformity with norms traditional in the Church, women (single, married, religious), whether in churches, homes, convents, schools, or institutions for women, are barred from serving the priest at the altar. [Paul VI, ladies and gents.]<<
>>And in 1980 Pope John Paul II stated in Inaestimabile Donum, There are, of course, various roles that women can perform in the liturgical assembly: these include reading of the Word of God and proclaiming the intentions of the Prayer of the Faithful. Women are not, however, permitted to act as altar servers.[JP2, ladies and gents.]<,
Unfortunately, under pressure, the indecisive St JP II reversed himself in 1994.
Boys and men will volunteer less at a place of worship where females are given the same roles as men and wanting to dominate. That’s just the way it seems to be. Males need a special role more than females do. Let the boys do it, but also put full time videocameras everywhere in and around the church where the boys will be, before, during and after the services.
Our Byzantine parish has MEN serving. The youngest server is about 14. The girls have their own ministry: They are the ones who hold the 3-branched candlestick during the reading of the Gospel.
It’s a tiny church building, and a procession of men takes up a lot of space, but it is worth it when we witness the GROWTH of our parish and the enthusiasm and involvement of our members. We even have an outreach in Ft. Collins.
