Cardinal Kasper: Majority of Synod Now Supports Communion for Remarried
The Catholic Herald (UK) ^ | 10/15/14 | Staff Reporter

Cardinal Walter Kasper has said he believes a “growing majority” of the synod fathers are in favour of his proposal to allow some divorced and civilly remarried Catholics to receive Holy Communion.

Speaking yesterday evening, the German cardinal said: “I hoped there would be some opening and I think the majority is in favour. That is the impression I have, but there is no vote. But I think some opening would be left [to happen]. Perhaps it would also be left to the next part of the synod.”

asked if he thought his proposal was causing confusion among the faithful, he said: “I can only speak of Germany where the great majority wants an opening about divorce and remarriage. It’s the same in Great Britain, it’s everywhere. When I speak to lay people, also old people who are married for 50, 60 years, they never thought of divorce but they see a problem with their culture and so every family has a problem nowadays.

“The Pope also told me that [such problems exist] also in his family, and he has looked at the laity and seen the great majority are for a reasonable, responsible opening.”

He continued: “Nobody is putting into question the indissolubility of marriage. I think it wouldn’t be a help for people, but if you look to the word of Jesus, there are different synoptic gospels in different places, in different contexts.

Cardinal Kasper: Majority of Synod Now Supports Communion for Remarried

And since the proceedings of the synod are kept under wraps, who's to contradict him?

The whole thing has been railroaded. Long past time for the Pope to reign in this maverick but it won't happen. He's carrying Francis' water.

This guy is a most despicable, slimy, left wing political creature. Marriage is indissoluble, except that if you divorce and remarry, you are free to partake of the sacrament without repentance or amending the state of adultery that Our Lord said you are in. Cardinal Kasper’s proposal is an insult to one’s intelligence. He just wants to affirm sin.

So are churches now adopting the consensus method for determining religious doctrine?

It has worked for science. Just ask Algore. No more scientific method. Just take a poll.

Headline: Cardinal Kasper: Majority of Synod Now Supports Communion for Remarried.

What he actually said in the freaking article!

“I hoped there would be some opening and I think the majority is in favour. That is the impression I have, but there is no vote. But I think some opening would be left [to happen]. Perhaps it would also be left to the next part of the synod.”

REALLY?

If this is proceeding the way V2 went then the public pronouncements of the various cardinals and bishops are not related much to the content of the Synod. Once the final conclusions are emplaced the noisiest bishops will implement the unrelated previous announcements in the “spirit” of the Synod and will defy the actual Synod. The Church will have a couple of decades of hard times like in the 70s and 80s until apostate bishops can be replaced and corrections made.

The Church has not adopted anything. The Synod has a long way to go. The pronouncements and announcements are designed to intimidate the participants and set the ground for defiance of the actual Synod by claiming that these announcements ARE the Synod. We have been through all this before. It is a huge organization with many many bishops, a tiny number of whom are apostate and heretic. That tiny number are also far and away the noisiest.

I'm one of them, and I don't.

Just because you fail to live up to a standard doesn't meant there's something wrong with the standard.

Kasper needs to read and take to heart today’s first reading.

Reading 1 Gal 5:18-25

Brothers and sisters:
If you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are obvious:
immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry,
sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy,
outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness,
dissensions, factions, occasions of envy,
drinking bouts, orgies, and the like.
I warn you, as I warned you before,
that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, generosity,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh
with its passions and desires.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.
