SCHISMATIC
According to Church law, a schismatic is a person who, after receiving baptism and while keeping the name of Christian, pertinaciously refuses to submit to the Supreme Pontiff or refuses to associate with those who are subject to him. The two factors, submission to the Pope and association with persons subject to him, are to be taken disjunctively. Either resisting papal authority or refusing to participate in Catholic life and worship induces schism, even without further affiliation with another religious body. Like heresy, schism is formal and culpable only when the obligations are fully realized.

1. troll
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.
There are a lot of Catholics tempted to go schismatic on FR right now.
LOL!
No, wait, that was the Asthmatics, and their big hit “Take My Breath Away”............
Don’t like, don’t read. And the only one I see being disruptive is you.

Definitions, definitions, definitions!
But what are “Sweet Dreams” made of?
And would you Disagree?

That's debatable. Formally speaking, they're made of "this." Annie Lennox got sort of theatrical as she was wont to do, and dragged it out into sounding like "these," though.
Everybody’s looking for something.
some of them just come here to use the place
some of them (oh, never mind this line)
some of them want to abuse others here,
most of us end up being abused (whether we like it or not!)
Post it somewhere else and I won't read it. Post it on FR and I will. And posting something that calls out non-catholics for refusing to submit to your pope effectively puts this posting outside of the Relgion forum rules that limit participation by critics. The very nature of accusing FReepers like myself of pretty much anything invites a repsonse and you can expect me to call you folks on your passive-aggressive behavior when I see it.
Why be so Paranoid?
So i won't
I see there is no possibility of reasonable discourse with you. Live long and prosper. \\//

First, the Religion Forum doesn’t “limit participation by critics” on open threads such as this. Your very posts’ continued existence proves this. The only exception is on “Caucus” threads, which this is not.
Second, for better or worse, the technical functionality of the Forum defaults to all subfora when first loaded from the homepage. Thus, all the fora, and the threads therein currently discussed, are visible on the main page of FR.
It’s not mandatory to view all threads though, and so if, for example, you don’t want to see the Religion Forum threads you can simply click on “News/Activism” in the “Browse by Forum” sidebar to the right on the main page. This will then open only “News/Activism” posts and threads, no religion, no chat, etc.

Indeed. I tend to get downright nasty when people call me names because I don't find it necssary to bow down to Rome in order to have a relationship with my Lord and Savior.
Before I joined FR five years ago I really didn't know anything about Catholicism or Catholics. But over the past five years I've repeatedly seen Catholics post things that are insulting and provactive to the non-catholics on this forum, including myself. I've also been treated to far too many Catholics being smug, arrogant, insulting, pompous, self-righteous, and, of course, passive aggressive.
I suppose this form of evangelical outreach appeals to some people, such as masochistic flagellants, but for myself I am left to wonder at how this kind of thing is supposed to represent the best your church has to offer?
Imagine someone reading this board for the first time and their very first impression of Roman Catholicism is being called a schismatic? While that kind of thing is surely perfect to be posted inside the secure area of a Catholic-only forum I am loathe to imagine how this is even the least bit constructive for your faith when posted in a place like FR. I know I'd be embarrassed if someone posted something similar to this in the name of my church.
