Prayers for your daughter’s full and speedy recovery.
Meningitis!
This needs to be taken seriously.
Probably contracted it from the ventilation system of the plane on the way down. It attacks those with a weakened immune response.

Prayers away fellow Marylander.
Just got a call from Australia and Christina's fever is coming back and she is feeling pretty crummy again. :( Her friend Jenny had called, as well as the student liason. I was able to speak to a nurse, but between accents and connections, I can only hope that she is getting the meds she needs (she needs hydrocortisone/solu-cortef/solu-medrol in some form for her disorder).
It is noon there, now, and they're already saying they're going to keep her another night. AFAIK, nothing is back which shows anything definite and it is 'fever of unknown origin' type of thing.
I forgot to ask if the infectious disease people had been there...but hopefully we'll get more news as their day goes on.
Prayers up! Keep us posted!
My daughter spent a semester abroad in Australia last year and my other daughter lives on the west coast and has a great many health issues so I can sympathize with your plight.
My prayers will definitely be up for you and her for peace and healing.
He says she sounds much better, has finally been able to be put in a room, and even mentioned that she is hungry!
To his knowledge, nothing has come back positive through chest x-rays or bloodwork. He isn't sure what all tests they have done, although they did just swab her throat and/or nose. The infectious disease person was there and, apparently, nothing jumping out to alarm them yet.
Hubby and I are going to try to get some sleep....but I wanted to so deeply thank all of you for your prayers, thoughts, and warm wishes. We really do feel them. God bless you.
Here is hoping tomorrow I can post a 'she's discharged and better!' post!!
Prayers!
Praise God she sounds good!
We talked for about 30 min....it's just after 9:00am and she wants to get back to her home in St. Kilda!
She has had quite an experience...most of which we will hear details about when she is really well and back at her housing, but she really sounded well and we are so thankful and grateful.
While SHE is hoping to be discharged, she has heard musings that she might need to stay another night. However, she has not had a fever nor antibiotics for "hours". I have assured her that they will be happy to release her if they are confident that she is well enough to go (it sounds like they need the bed space!). She understands and agrees to do what the hospital recommends...but, boy, does she want to leave! She says all she wants is "pizza and ice cream". :)
The infectious disease doctor had lots of questions like, "where were you...how long where you there....which airports were you in...", etc.
As far as she knows, NO positive diagnosis of anything at this point.
I'm trying to think of anything else.....but beyond thanking everyone for their prayers, I can't remember specifics from our conversation.
Lyndon (student liason)- she says you are "the bomb" (btw....don't know about Aussie terms...but HERE, it means you are AWESOME. :) we completely and totally agree!) If I think of anything else, I will post. In the meantime - THANK YOU ALL AGAIN for your support through these difficult times!
Love, Kare
