Lutheran Satire on the Secular Progressive reaction to the Hobby Lobby SCOTUS decision
Lutheran Satire | 7-2-14 | Lutheran Satire

Posted on 07/04/2014 3:28:40 PM PDT by ReformationFan

Everyone has a church and everyone has an understanding of the marks of the church, of what makes their church the true church.

For the Roman Catholic, the mark of the church is the pope. In his mind, if you don't have the pope, then you don't have the church as God instituted it. And so a faithful Catholic would get furious if his priest rejected papal supremacy, because doing so would stop the church in his midst from being what the church is and doing what it should do.

For the Lutheran, the marks of the church are the Word and Sacraments. In his mind, if you don't have the preaching of the Gospel and the faith creating-and-sustaining gifts of Baptism and the Lord's Supper, then you don't have the church as God instituted it. And so a faithful Lutheran would get furious if his pastor refused to administer these gifts purely, because doing so would stop the church in his midst from being what the church is and doing what it should do.

For the Secular Progressive, the state is his church and the marks of the church are abortion and gay marriage. In his mind, if citizens don't have unlimited access to abort when they want and marry whom they want, then you don't have the church-state functioning according to its institution. And so a faithful Secular Progressive will get furious at politicians or state legislatures or anyone else they perceive to be hindering the administration of these secular sacraments because doing so would stop the church in his midst from being what the church is and doing what it should do.

This is precisely why we've seen such a hysterical, angry, vitriolic, and deceitful response from Secular Progressives to the Supreme Court-Hobby Lobby ruling. For the Secular Progressive, this decision perverted the marks of his church-state. For the Secular Progressive, this was the equivalent of the Supreme Court telling Catholics that they can't submit to the authority of the pope any longer or telling Lutherans that they can't baptize babies anymore.

Good post - thanks. But I would not call it satire - just an accurate description.

Actually it could be alternatively be labeled Human Secularism to compare apples to apples.

Human Secularism and the good values it carries towards humanity is but a subset of pure Christian values.

This subset relationship would be along the lines of

secular humanism—

old Mainline Protestant denominations(which mirror secular humanism)

—Bible Churches(they dont touch alot of fundamental issues of our day, but do teach truth)

—Fundamentalists

—Conservative Christian groups: evangelicls, conservative Lutheran, conservative presbyterian and others...(their teachings are almost inclusive of every modern moral issue, but they also have caveats and loopholes)

—Catholic Church(its teachings touch on every modern moral issue...contraception , abortifacents, InVitro Fertilization(NO), surrogate pregnancies(NO) Euthanasia, No against ALL Abortion(no loopholes for rape, etc), embryonic stem cell research and manipulation, operating table harvesting(killing those prematurely for their organs and goes unnoticed),voluntary euthanasia(suicide), gay marriage(NO), illicit sex before marriage(NO), etc, etc)

BTW, Catholics have the Word of the Lord and Sacraments too.

Good satirical analysis about the liberals, though.

The freakiest thing about Lutheran Satire is that all the characters stand eight feet from each other. ☺

“The seven “sacraments” of their secular culture are abortion, buggery, contraception, divorce, euthanasia, feminism of the radical type, and genetic experimentation and mutilation. These things they unabashedly espouse, profess and promote. Their continuance in public office is a clear and present danger to our survival as a nation.”

You’re welcome but I don’t see how this particular post was critical of Roman Catholics. I thought it gave a fair description of a key aspect of their church.

...there are four marks of the Catholic Church, stipulated at each Mass in the text of the Nicene Creed...and none of them concern papal supremacy...

Luther posted a list of theses (propositions) to be debated. Obama despises debate.
