Well, *official* Church doctrine is meaningless if nobody is going to act on it.
What is important is what we have to live with, which we get from the decisions that these bishops and priests who you say aren't representing church doctrine are making.
So in reality, I don't think anyone gives a rip about *official* church doctrine which exists in some fantasy land somewhere but certainly does not come into effect in the real world.
We don't live hypotheticals. We live in the reality of the fallout of what REALLY happens, not what's supposed to happen.
Great observation.
Have you noticed that when people are made to wear uniforms, they all want to add a touch of individualty; but when people are rewarded for their individuality, liberals want them all to be uniform?

In our Constitution, equality referred to how government is supposed to treat the citizens. The rest of life will be chock full of inequities.
Ps: as someone who’s complained about the gross over- length of some theological treatises, the Holy Father’s tweet raises exactly the opposite issue. Perhaps it is impossible to include the necessary nuance to properly frame and qualify broad theological ( or vast socioeconomic) pronouncements in a maximum- of -140 - character Tweet? Just asking. No offense Intended. And if this be true, then mightn’t it be wiser to issue any such epistles in a more traditional format, one no so circumscribed and constraining of careful clarity and thus, accuracy?
“income inequality” bump
That opportunity is taken away by Democrat programs
In a true godly society, the well-off take care of the poor, not some impersonal government -- like in the old days where the rich felt the need to look after their poor brethren. In today's world it is "not my problem --it's the gubmint's problem to take care of the homeless"
Secondly, we all need the opportunity to improve ourselves -- that's what made America great, where a person whose parents were sharecroppers could grow up to be rich, or where a person whose parents were filthy rich could grow up to be poor
....right, I’m sure that’s what he meant...
So now the Cathokic church is the propaganda wing for socialism? Amazing.
It’s statements like this that are emptying out the pews.
"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." --Karl Marx

Why do care? You’re not Catholic? How does the Pope’s words OR ANYTHING the Catholic Church does impact your life?
So once again, why do you care?
Because the Catholic church diminishes the integrity and authority of Scripture and teaches things as necessary for salvation that Scripture doesn’t.
Catholicism also claims authority over everyone spiritually and that it is only through them that they can reach God.
That will lead people astray, on the path to hell and I will not let people be so deceived.
Uh, you're confusing lip moving by liberal U.S. bishops and priests with Catholic doctrine, which doesn't have any thing to do with U.S. politics, and preceded it by centuries and millennia.

This is the best post I've ever read here on the "bait and switch" con that is the Catholic Church. They promise utter changelessness and stability but give you the zeitgeist, with a heavy amount of "fundie"-bashing thrown in.
The "indefectible" church has defected, and it's maddening to see the games Catholic FReepers play to deny this. And this by people who threw in the towel on Genesis the moment "science" said "boo!"
To some extent what you say is true: it’s part of the Great Apostasy. However, Church doctrine will outlive any of these individuals and their worldly views, and will again become ascendent as Jesus returns.
I am so confused by your post
I was merely agreeing with your assessment.
Then a lot of people have went to hell in the last 2,000 years. The truth of the matter is without the Catholic Church you wouldn’t have any idea who Jesus is, much less scripture.
Complete and unadulterated hogwash.
The whole OT pointed to Jesus and provided enough prophecies so that He would be recognized as the promised Messiah.
GOD gave us Scripture under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We don't need the Catholic church to puff out its chest, pound on it, and claim bragging rights for *giving* the world the Bible when all they did was rubber stamp what was widely known as and recognized as Scripture.
*The Catholic church approves this message.* Big deal.
They did nothing and we owe them nothing. All glory to God.
