The consecrations are at the 5:30 and 6:15 marks. No genuflection. In fact not a single person there on the altar, such as it is, genuflects, much less kneels, except the young server in the front with the incense, who is on his knees. All of the rest of the concelebrating priests remain standing throughout, and of course, the two kid "cantors" just stand there between their performance opportunities.
I GUESS THEY MUST ALL BE CRIPPLED OLD MEN, TOO, HUH?
This is the state of the Church in Buenos Aires, and all of Argentina, as I have been told repeatedly by Argentinians who have emailed me, both laity and clergy. Banality, insipidity, sacrilege. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Calvary made present, is treated as a bad joke.
And now, a quote from Cardinal Hummes of Brazil, who is one of Pope Francis' closest friends and colleagues, as evidenced by the fact that Hummes was standing beside Pope Francis on the balcony on Wednesday night:
Q: In what sense is reform necessary?Cardinal Hummes: Not just of the Curia, but many other things: our way of celebrating ("fazer", lit. "making", "doing") Mass, of doing evangelization, this new evangelization needs new methods. The pope spoke in the meeting with the cardinals of new methods, we need to find new methods.
After what you have read here about the incredibly deep and profound theology of the Mass and the Eucharist over the last several months, you cannot be an honest person and truly believe that there is nothing wrong here, and that everything is fine.
Further, do you honestly expect a man who would participate in such a breathtakingly undignified liturgy to provide any sort of solidity when it comes to economic systems and a realistic path forward out of economic and geo-political collapse?
We are about to have a world war, and the new Pope thinks that the key to evangelizing the world is more liturgical puppets and "fun" Masses, apparently. Yeah. That's what all people are searching for. And besides, that worked so well in the 1970s, we might as well double-down and do it again.
Being an adult and manfully facing objective reality is not pharisaical. Going through life denying that which is obvious and right in front of you; swearing that everything is great and fine when in fact everything is collapsing around you is not good or virtuous. It is ridiculous, childish and sometimes just plain evil. We see this in politics, as people refuse to acknowledge that "their guy" or "their team" not only isn't going to save the day, but that "their guys" are actually the enemy. We see it in finance as people refuse to accept the stark objective reality of simple arithmetic. We see it in current events as more and more thefts, confiscations, incursions and perversions are carried out in plain sight, but the masses refuse to acknowledge that any of these things are indicative of disorder, and that the people talking and warning about them, even when proved right again and again, are either "mean" or "crazy".
With regards to the Church, the gates of hell will never prevail against it, BUT individuals can be lost and are lost to hell. How many souls lost are YOU willing to tolerate for the sake of being "nice"? If you want to talk about charity, here is where you start. Stop worrying about being nice and universally loved, liked or even respected and start telling people the truth, no matter how ugly it may be.
I don't give a lick what any of you people think of me, and I will never ask anyone for any money, ever. There are no advertisements here. There is no cash flow. There is no career ambition. There is no cult of personality. And that is why I am willing to tell you the unvarnished truth. If you want to be lied to, I can direct you exactly where you can go for that.
God is angry. Pray hard. Be sorry for not just your own sins, but for the sins of the whole world. Do penance. Make reparation.
Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison. Kyrie eleison.
Viva il Papa.
**Many readers are emailing asking for suggestions IF Cardinal Hummes' quote proves true and the Traditional Mass, namely the Tridentine Rite, is in any way suppressed or oppressed. I do have a suggestion that you may want to explore. There are several "Eastern Catholic Rites" that are in full, complete communion with Rome and are 100% Catholic that it would be all but impossible for a Pope to mess with - and the chant is GORGEOUS. Look for Byzantine Rite, or Ukrainian Catholic parishes. There are other Eastern Catholic Rites, but Byzantine/Ukrainian are the most common Eastern Catholic rites in North America. Just be certain that you are looking at a Catholic, and NOT Russian Orthodox or Greek Orthodox parish, as the Orthodox are NOT in communion with Rome, and thus lack validity, and also teach heresy, such as contraception, divorce and remarriage, etc., not to mention having messed-up Trinitarian theology, which as we have discussed, if not spot-on leads to massive problems.
Actually, the operative principle is that The Pope Is the Liturgy. I.e., whatever the Pope does in the liturgy is correct, by definition.
Disobedience to the Church and Church teaching is not being Catholic, she is showing herself no better then Nancy Pelosi or Joe Biden. Cafeteria Catholics are all the same, maybe they dont pick the same things to go against the Church about, but the result is the same, disobedience and scandal.
...what utter and complete bloviating nonsense that is...please indicate in what regard the author is being disobedient to the Deposit of Faith...specify, if you would, specify...
Anne....trying to be more Catholic than the Pope.
Actually, the operative principle is that The Pope Is the Liturgy. I.e., whatever the Pope does in the liturgy is correct, by definition.
...so, if the Pope celebrates the liturgy using invalid matter (cookie dough), using illicit forms,(makes up his own eucharistic prayer), and has no intention of confecting the matter by the consecrational formula(hey, I’m just doing this for the symbolism of it), then that would be the way for us to go as well...just going by your statement...
...of course, I’m not suggesting that any priest has ever done what I’ve described...just that your statement seems curious...
So when a nobody with no power criticizes a somebody with immense power, the nobody is a bully?
...apparently so... it is an odd supposition isn’t it? the entire power of the Vatican infrastructure against some lowly denizen of the blogosphere, and the lowly denizen is doing the bullying...
...you gotta wonder, sometimes...
Why is she complaining on a very special and joyous day for Catholics around the world?
I got up really early to see new Pope Francis, forgive if I do refer to the Pope as Pope Francis I from time to time because of first time refering to him with a name that was nevered used by Popes before, I am sadden that Ms. Bernhartz attacks Pope Francis who is just starting out.
PLEASE Ms. Bernhartz, REPENT and TURN BACK to God!
I'm getting a whiff of Westboro. Fred Phelps renegade daughter?
How about she stop worrying about an EARTHLY tradition and start focusing on God’s revealed teaching contained in His Scripture? The Pharisees got all wound up in their RELIGION and forgot that God is Love. Jesus Christ cut through all of this nonsense; bringing sinners to the Father through His blood sacrifice and atoning death was His business. Don’t be carried away by things that do not have eternal significance.
Why is she complaining on a very special and joyous day for Catholics around the world?
...perhaps because she is truly concerned about the future path of the Catholic Church...
PLEASE Ms. Bernhartz, REPENT and TURN BACK to God!
...Repent??? Repent for what??? What exactly did she say she should repent for? Again, be specific...you are aware, I’m sure, that even within Holy Mother Church one is allowed to speak his or her mind without fear of being branded a heretic?
I’m getting a whiff of Westboro. Fred Phelps renegade daughter?
...so, you’ve deduced from the above article that this individual gathers outside the funerals of slain soldiers holding signs about how God hates the wicked...I obviously didn’t see that part in the text...please point it out to me...
Catechism of the Catholic Church #1378 - Worship of the Eucharist. In the liturgy of the Mass we express our faith in the real presence of Christ under the species of bread and wine by, among other ways, genuflecting or bowing deeply as a sign of adoration of the Lord.
Good luck defending Ann. She is an actual Catholic. Even to the point where she refuses to encourage schism. I give her credit for converting even while the Church shrinks out from under her. I guess being opposed to the previous conversion of seminaries to bathhouses where you discuss Marx is anti Catholic.
True. In fact some non-Catholics are setting a better example that would be beneficial for those Catholics engaging in these embarassingly mean-spirited attacks on our Holy Father, Francis to follow:
"As Catholics the world over get to know the man who will lead their church into the future, non-Catholics are joining them in praying for the success of newly elected Pope Francis and the 1.2 billion-member church he now leads."

"But if you have bitter zeal, and there be contentions in your hearts; glory not, and be not liars against the truth. For this is not wisdom, descending from above: but earthly, sensual, devilish." - James iii 14-15
She’s dead right about a lot of things—like our lawless government. But she seems completely manic about the new Pope.
The notion that only Scripture contains God’s revelation is a human tradition.
No.
It is the culmination of her ranting that is the problem. She is causing very unjust scandals on Pope Francis before she even knows what he is going to do.
...you accused the woman of disobedience to Holy Mother Church...I requested that you tell me what that disobedience was...the fact that you don’t like her world view doesn’t mean a thing...
...as far as scandals go, you’ve got to be kidding...a scandal? A scandal would be more priests being outed for homosexual relations with boys...or some prelates caught in bed with prostitutes...or a pope announcing his research showing that the Holy Mother was not virgin after all...a lowly blogger pontificating in cyberspace about puppet masses...not a scandal...
...a word of advice...accusing someone of disobedience to the Deposit of Faith is a very serious charge, not something you do just because you don’t like how that person parses her phrases...be careful how you throw that charge around...
I guess being opposed to the previous conversion of seminaries to bathhouses where you discuss Marx is anti Catholic.
...remarkable what the seminaries did to the Faith in the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s...
