Homosexuality Incompatible With Priesthood
Catholic News Service ^ | 11-24-2010 | John Travis

"Homosexuality is incompatible with the priestly vocation. Otherwise, celibacy itself would lose its meaning as a renunciation. It would be extremely dangerous if celibacy became a sort of pretext for bringing people into the priesthood who don't want to get married anyway," the pope said.

The pope cited a 2005 Vatican document that drew a sharp line against priestly ordination of homosexuals. He said the document emphasized that homosexual candidates cannot become priests because their sexual orientation interferes with "the proper sense of paternity" that belongs to the priesthood.

The pope said it was important to select priestly candidates very carefully,

It`s a bunch of propaganda- A lot of the seminarian deans and teachers are homosexuals- They never cleaned out those guys- I know coz i was there in Baltimore and Albany seminaries=

been there, saw them, watched them, avoided them at all costs-

even in the minor seminaries those homosexual priests teachers are still there-

Quis custodiet custodes?

In the seminary those admission rules/test do not apply to the homosexual priests already there .

YUP Please do not make any remarks about this unless you have been in on the inside of a seminary for 4 years, my friend,. otherwise it is all hogwash

Do you not know that some homosexual priests teachers are administering "two day psyche exam, have multiple references, undergo days and days of interviews:"

Are you actually in favor of letting the foxes guard the henhouse with all the little chicks?

Gimme a break!!!

Please quote the article wherein it states the number of priest-teachers at US seminaries have been fired for being homosexual-

C`mon show me the facts, Jack.

FACT _ THERE HASN`T BEEN ONE PRIEST_TEACHER AT ANY US SEMINARY REMOVED/FIRED FOR BEING HOMOSEXUAL.

prove me wrong, please- I`M FROM MISSOURI- show me.

The Church doesn`t have the guts to grandfather the new rules into the seminaries.

They always protect their own, and they always will. PERIOD.

Weird post and attempt to get personal and to indicate uncalled for hostility, but I don't think the concern is that celibacy creates homosexuals or a sexual desire for children, but that an all male institution sworn to no women or any sexual or romantic contact with women for one's entire lifetime, might attract men who really like that idea and atmosphere, and commitment to maleness.

It would be extremely dangerous if celibacy became a sort of pretext for bringing people into the priesthood who don't want to get married anyway," the pope said.

Cripes! Sorry to all for my grammar errors. I am usually better than that. My philosophy professor at St. Meinrad would have docked me a lot for those.

I guess I just have a completely different experience in the Church that you had Glutens. I do not recognize the church you describe. It is alien to me.

Thank you for your thoughtful post.

I can only say that we must have attended Churches on different planets.

To get a picture of what I'm talking about, google sometime: "Father John Patrick Feeney Green Bay"

"Father Donald Buzanowski Green Bay"

"Father Donald Becker Gay Gospels"

This is just a sampler for you. There's lots, lots more. All of those men were parish priests that served my family. I knew a lot of seminarians back in the day. They were essentially all gay. Or alcoholic or crazy or something along with being gay. But they were mostly gay.

You can't begin to address the problem until you admit that there is a problem. How you missed the Lavender Mafia is beyond me, but okay, I accept it. I guess that my first job is to convince you that it's real.

Please tell me what you think of Bernandine and Weakland. Were they Lavender Mafia? Did they cover for anybody? Were they gay? Did they regularly have sodomy?

You tell me.

If my suspicions are correct about the reasons for BXVI's resignation, the evidence of the Lavender Mafia is about to come bursting forth.

attempt to get personal

Here you go again. I don't know or have any interest in you personally.

Yup. Priests are people attracted to priesthood, firefighters are people attracted to firefighting, and generally, people choose vocations because they appeal to them.

Yes! That's exactly the problem. They won't purge themselves! The only way to be shut of them is to open the floodgates to heterosexual ordinations by requiring that all new ordinations (at least for parish work, monastic orders excepted) must be married men.

That new cohort would drive the Lavender Mafia into the dirt where they belong.

I see no other way.

Father Tony is equating an adult priest having (I presume) consensual sex with adult women with my friend's parish priest molesting him as a boy of 13... Is Fr. Tony gay? I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that he is...
Fr. Tony was writing about Lent and forgiveness (not equating priests molesting girls vs. boys). It's a beautiful (albeit sobering) post if you take the time to read it as it is written, instead of inserting your own presumptions, assumptions, and attacks.

You didn't answer the question. Is Fr. Tony gay?

It's important because he's implicitly equating Fr. Powell's natural dalliances with consenting young adult women with the gay child sex abuse scandal that has devastated the Church.

Firefighters kiss their wives and daughters goodbye in the morning, go to work alongside females, and then return to females after work.

While a dad, a homosexual, a single man, or husband, or woman or wife or mother may become a firefighter, it doesn’t share anything to do with swearing off all female physical contact for life and joining a private world of perfect maleness, and perfect separation from anything woman.

There was much about Feeney in the last few years in Green Bay. The Church in Green Bay was very embarrassed and humbled by the damage he did. It is because of him that everyone who is involved in the Church in Green Bay are watching their priests like hawks these days.

St. Meinrad is mostly Benedictine. Over one-third of the men there are from Indianapolis, and one of the Benedictines was Archbishop there for a long time. That is a very orthodox diocese. The LM will not get a foothold in there.

Bernandine and Weakland were not the start of the problems. They were symptoms. There were a lot of progressive leaning bishops appointed by Archbishop Jadot. I thought he also picked Mahoney. That is where most of the damage to the Church in America has happened. Yes, we have more than just two bad bishops, but can you really tell me they can move the other 99% of the Church into agreement with any homosexual agenda? So far as I can tell, all the gay clergy are going to the Episcopal church or ELCA because it is more friendly to their lifestyle. Why get involved with a Church that has a nominally public position against your lifestyle rather than go to a church that embraces that lifestyle.

There was one man at St. Meinrad who left just after his philosophy was finished, but before starting theology. Later, we found out he joined the Episcopalians and had an openly flaming gay facebook page. They didn’t have to kick him out; he just could not stand being there anymore. If there was such a LM, this guy would have been protected and nurtured. As it is, one man did not make a mafia.

The Holy Spirit has ways of cleaning things up even when men fail. Gay men in the seminary, so far as I could tell, are still a very rare exception, not the rule. Any attempt to provide a false front in order to be ordained will end up biting back at you. It must be founded on being honest about your self and to others or you will not last long.

Some people just want to ignore your point and create one for you, and pretend that is what you were saying, they have some canned responses already in the packaged for the fake point.

Considering the source of your anger, why would I send you words from a homosexual priest? But just so you can sleep better (or at least stop with your hideous slander), Fr. Tony is not gay.

I'm a fallen-away Catholic

You lost your faith in men and you think married men will restore it? Your faith was wrongly placed. You were never Catholic.

Grow up and stop whining and stop blaming others for your lack of spine.

The same sort of nitwits who now see "no way" other than to weaken discipline by ordaining married priests are exactly like the nitwits who in the fifties and sixties saw "no way around" the shortage of new vocations except to ignore the Vatican and ordain queers who would promise to be celibate.

Now the same sort of nitwits claim eliminating more discipline will solve problem their fellow nitwits helped to create.

I wonder if they consult the same psychiatrists now that they were relying on and quoted profusely back then?

You are correct on the family members.

The most probable pedophiles in order are:

Fathers
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers

Priests are way down on the list.

So if a father is a teacher of mid-high history, coaches the girl’s basketball team and is a youth minister at his church on weekends/Sundays — watch out! He would be much more prone to pedophilia that any priest.

So there were married priests before the year 600? I’ve never heard of this, but if it is so, I would like to be enlightened.
