It takes a stand-up person to admit they shouldn’t drive anymore.
I respect that and I respect you.
I hope it was just a freak occurence and everything works out okay for you.
To: ConorMacNessa
So sorry to hear this. Prayers up, of course! Have you blacked out like this before?

Prayers up from this house. Take care of yourself. Hopefully, they’ll find the cause and be able to take care of it for you. Good luck.

Become much more careful. Maybe have someone ride shotgun and look for cars. Good luck.

You got it buddy, and Merry Christmas.
To: ConorMacNessa
Your decision to not drive anymore should be based on the medical evaluation of your condition - in particular, what was the cause of your blackout, how are you going to be treated for it, and what are the chances that it may recur when you are driving?
To: ConorMacNessa
Prayers up and God’s Love! could they tell you what happened?

Get well, my friend. Hopefully the black-out you experienced isn’t a chronic condition.
I’ve had two black-outs in my life. Thank goodness I wasn’t doing anything more dangerous than standing in a room at the time. The last one I had was over thirty years ago, and I’ve driven ever since.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine who lives in Potomac Md. Something in the water there in Md.??? Anyway he didn’t hit anyone, but instead ran off the side of the road. His accident also did not involve any injuries. If I remember he had to prove that it was not due to some condition where it could reoccur, before he could get his license back. That was several years ago now and he hasn’t had a problem since. You need to see how things go and if you do not have another occrrence I think you will be good to drive again. It is not easy giving up that independence of mobility, but we must each make our own calls based upon whatever knowledge we can garner. Good luck and I hope like my friend it was just a onetime occurence caused by an illness that is not gravely serious, like maybe a flu bug. My prayers are with you.

I greatly respect the integrity and wisdom you’re showing in acknowledging the possibility that it’s time to give up the keys.I was involved in getting my Dad to give up *his* keys as he approached 80.It wasn’t a fun time for any of us.I’d encourage you to listen carefully to any advice your physician(s) might have for you.

You got ‘em. I rear-ended someone a little over a year ago, and I’m way younger than I think you are. Hope you can get to the bottom of your blackout.

Just about same time I rear ended a guy on the 605 but I’m marking it up to the fact that a three year old Dodge with ABS stops a whole lot shorter than a twenty three year old Thunderbird. Not giving up my license but I am investing in power disks for the ‘57 and the ‘60.

I am very, very thankful that no lives were lost in that accident.
I salute you on making a hard and sad decision which appears to be a correct decision.
I will pray for you as you adjust to these changing circumstances in your life. And also for those around you as your change makes them change, however so slight, as well.
