From the article: Reverend O’Neal Dozier, an African American Rick Santorum supporter from Florida, held a press conference Sunday calling upon Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to renounce his Mormon religion. Mr. Dozier’s request is regarding several racially motivated passages in the Book of Mormon, that have been called out by other African American leaders previously in the race.

If the press was so "wanting" to "vilify" Mormonism -- Mitt Romney's religion -- it'd trot out the offending Book of Mormon passages so that it wasn't all "second-hand" stuff...(Because, as it is, they leave it up to a "Oh, that's just this pastor's opinion"...Let the MSM report & the readers decide!).

But the Mormon church has scolded the MSM enough re: not to trample on its religion.

Well, I'll do the MSM's job for it!

Here's five Book of Mormon verses below talking about how the "skin of blackness" is a "cursing" based upon their "iniquity" (2 Nephi 5:21; Alma 3:6; Jacob 3:5) and how when the curse would be removed, they would again become "white" (3 Nephi 2:15), which the Book of Mormon says is a "delightsome" color (2 Nephi 5:21; cf. older version of 2 Nephi 30:6):

The Mormon "prophets" Nephi, Alma and the Mormon Jacob are racists!

* "And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceeding fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them." (2 Nephi 5:21)

* "...many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and delightsome people." (2 Nephi 30:6, pre-1981 versions...changed from unknown reasons in 1981 to "fair and delightsome"...It's not like the Mormon church has the supposed gold plates to go back and look to interpret a word differently)

* "And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against the their brethren..." (Alma 3:6)

* "Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins..." (Jacob 3:5) [Note: The "Lamanites" per Mormonism are Native Americans...so their skin color, says Mormon "scripture" is based upon a supposed curse]

* "And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites." (3 Nephi 2:15) [Note: So...to be "uncursed" is to have your skin turn white...per Romney's Mormonism, that is!]

Some Mormons talk as if a darker skin color as-a-supposed-curse was just ONLY some talk in the past. Uh, no! Look at the verses above -- Alma 3:6 and Jacob 3:5, for example. They also talk as if the "curse of Ham" being a darker skin color was also just some teaching that's been jettisoned. Well, then why is the Book of Abraham phrasing still there (see Book of Abraham 1:24-27) in their Mormon "scripture" -- the Pearl of Great Price?

And it's not just two Mormonism's "sacred" "scriptures" which are racist (Book of Mormon; Pearl of Great Price)...so is the Lds "Doctrine & Covenants"...just do a Google search...pull up D&C 134:12...once the Dems & the MSM discover that verse...boy, will they have a field day with that one!

From the article: ...other religious figures have also criticized Mr. Romney for the passages in the Book of Mormon. In January, Dr. Obery Hendricks a professor of Biblical Interpretation at the New York Theological Seminary, wrote an op-ed article in The Huffington Post making similar accusations against Mr. Romney. “What concerns me is this: the Book of Mormon, the book that Mitt Romney and all Mormons embrace as divinely revealed scripture that is more sacred, more true, and more inerrant than any other holy book on earth, declares that black people are cursed,” said Mr. Hendricks in an MSNBC interview.

And how is the Mormon "scripture" -- Doctrine & Covenants -- also racist?

Well, it’s mid-1835. Smith is churning out new “Scripture.” Smith is taking aim at new converts. But in that time, did he believe the Mormon “gospel” to be aimed at slaves? (No, not unless express “permission” was granted by their “owners”).

Could you imagine a verse still applicable today—one similar to the Mormon scripture of Doctrine & Covenants 134:12—which would tell you in effect that yes, the gospel was for women who are sexually trafficked--but only if their Pimp-owner says "Yes?".

I mean, imagine if you will, for a moment, that you are the God of the universe; God of every planet; God of the earth; Creator of every person. Imagine for a moment you are speaking forth universal eternal truth. And then imagine that someone claims you (as God) made the following “Scriptural” statement:

”We believe it just to preach the gospel to the nations of the earth, and warn the righteous to save themselves from the corruption of the world; but we do not believe it right to interfere with bond-servants, neither preach the gospel to, nor baptize them contrary to the will and wish of their masters, nor to meddle with or influence them in the least to cause them to be dissatisfied with their situations in this life, thereby jeopardizing the lives of men; such interference we believe to be unlawful and unjust, and dangerous to the peace of every government allowing human beings to be held in servitude.”

D&C 134:12 is LDS “Doctrine” that has never been removed or rescinded!!! This passages makes it quite clear – in contrast to the apostle Paul who vied for the religious freedom of Onesimus while treating him as a full Christian brother and encouraged Philemon to do the same--somehow, LDS think that "religious freedom" applies to everyone except slaves!

D&C 134:12, written in 1835 pro-slavery America, made it quite clear that instead of the Mormons having a universal god who issued eternal truth applicable to all cultures, he is instead an American-sounding god who speaks only in King James English & was beholden to the American slavery industry.

D&C 134:12 "settles" the issue for the Mormon: Are slaves & trafficking victims worthy of the "gospel?" LDS Answer? Nope! "neither preach the gospel to, nor baptize them..." says LDS "Scripture.

And why not? Well, says D&C 134:12: We don't want ya ta meddle with the Mastuhs' business “property,” or to say it as precisely as LDS "scripture" says it: nor to meddle with or influence them in the least to cause them to be dissatisfied with their situations in this life...

(Nah. We can't have unhappy slaves or trafficking victims now, can we? Too disturbing to their "stations" of life, eh?)

Now what are the ultimate reasons for this again? D&C 134:12 provides the answer:

Reason #1: ...such interference we believe to be unlawful and unjust... (There ya have it...wouldn't want to be "unjust" by giving slaves the gospel & baptizing them, would ya?)

Reason #2: ...and dangerous to the peace of every government allowing human beings to be held in servitude. (And, of course, the "closer": Wouldn't want to disturb the peace & quiet of slavery-sanctioning governments, now would ya?)

I do not care what Romney’s religion is...he will NOT get my primary vote no matter what religion he happens to be.

on the other hand I, as a Catholic, would vote for Santorum or Newt (its a long way to April 24th....I dont know who will be where by then...)if they happened to be LDS.

our side needs to concentrate on the zer0 regime....not trash people on their religion...unless it happened to be the ROP which is a murder cult and not a religion.

Way to go Rick. Just drive away the mormon vote and send them right into Romney’s arms.

Stupid idiots don’t think before they talk.
Why not say something about the jews, too. Drive them away as well.

One verse in the Book of Mormon discusses the “cursing the black African people,”

Mr. Dozier's a liar. There's nothing about black Africans, or any other Africans, ANYWHERE in the Book of Mormon. The peoples with the dark skinned are the Lamanites, a people of Hebrewic origin, not African origin. And in fact, at various points in the Book of Mormon it is the dark skinned Lamanites that are the righteous ones and the white skinned Nephites who are wicked and cursed.

And your out of context quoting of the Book of Mormon reveals your never ending deceit Colofornia in misrepresenting LDS beliefs, such as where you post this out of context quote... "Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins...finish the sentence Colofornia as shown in the book of Mormon in Jacob 3:4 "Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not aforgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father—that they should have save it were bone wife, and cconcubines they should have none, and there should not be dwhoredoms committed among them.

Why don't you people actually READ the Book of Mormon before presuming to twist its teachings or pronounce it a racist document, an interesting charge coming from some Protestant faiths than maintain segregated white and black congregations in some parts of the South. If you did read the Book of Mormon, you'd read over and over about God and Christ telling of their love for the dark skinned Lamanite peoples and their restoring them to the Abrahamic blessings in the latter days.

And the Lord and his prophets spent more time excoriating the white skinned peoples of the Book of Mormon than he does the Lamanites. One example from Alma 60: 32 "Behold, can you suppose that the Lord will spare you and come out in judgment against the Lamanites, when it is the tradition of their fathers that has caused their hatred, yea, and it has been redoubled by those who have dissented from us, while your iniquity is for the cause of your love of glory and the vain things of the world?"

Alma 9:24 For behold, the promises of the Lord are extended to the Lamanites, but they are not unto you if ye transgress; for has not the Lord expressly promised and firmly decreed, that if ye will rebel against him that ye shall utterly be destroyed from off the face of the earth?

Alma 9: 16 For there are many promises which are extended to the Lamanites; for it is because of the traditions of their fathers that caused them to remain in their state of ignorance; therefore the Lord will be merciful unto them and prolong their existence in the land.

Again, it would help your credibility if you evidenced any sign of ever having read the Book of Mormon before trashing it.

OK, after what must be hundreds of anti-mormon post from you, we get it. You hate Mormons.
No doubt you even wrote letters to ABC about the gall of them airing the Donny & Marie Show back in the 70s. After all even though we didn't have the web to fuel it, their were many who believed there was a conspiracy to use their show to convert us all.

Perhaps you would get farther with what you're trying to do by laying off his religion, and post Romneys liberal political leanings instead.

calling upon Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to renounce his Mormon religion.
__________________________________________

Sorry that will never happen...

Without his Mormon religion bishop and high priest Willard Mitt Romney is nothing...

He has no identity outside what Mormonism gives him...

Hede be “lost” without it...

Its all he knows...

all he thinks he can be sure of, rely on...

Mormons dont say “I believe God to be true”

They say “I believe the “church” is true”

“I believe the book of Mormon is true”

The Mormon religion controls every waking moment of Willie Mittys life..

Hes not free to make his own decisions..

and he wouldnt be comfortable without it..

Hes been trained from the cradle to “need” it..

When he says “I’m proud of my Mormon faith” and “I believe in the faith of my fathers” its because thats all he knows or wants to know..

Hes afraid to look outside of what his ggg grandfather believed and practiced..

Hes stunted in his religion...hes never grown on past the need for what it gives him...

to it he “owes” his education, his wife, his family’s success, his fortune, his job, his MASS gov win, his present campaign..

The Romney family for generations have been “royal” Mormons

Break out ???

No Willie Mitty doesnt have it in him to do that..

It takes guts and a desire to be free to attempt to break the shackles of Mormonism...

We have several courageous FReepers who have escaped the tentacles of Mormonism but it cost them to do so...

bishop Willie Mitty doesnt have the strength of character or the independance to do the same...

Hes never had to stand on his own 2 feet ...

and hes not planning to any time soon..

Furthermore, Mr. Romney’s father, former Michigan Governor George Romney, was known as a vocal supporter of civil rights for African Americans.

Mr. Romney has not responded publicly to either Reverend Dozier or Mr. Hendricks’ comments about the racially charged Book of Mormon.

Going forward in the race, the Mormon factor will likely remain a resurfacing issue for Mr. Romney, especially if he wins the nomination and faces the nation’s first African American president.
