One verse in the Book of Mormon discusses the “cursing the black African people,”

Mr. Dozier's a liar. There's nothing about black Africans, or any other Africans, ANYWHERE in the Book of Mormon. The peoples with the dark skinned are the Lamanites, a people of Hebrewic origin, not African origin. And in fact, at various points in the Book of Mormon it is the dark skinned Lamanites that are the righteous ones and the white skinned Nephites who are wicked and cursed.

And your out of context quoting of the Book of Mormon reveals your never ending deceit Colofornia in misrepresenting LDS beliefs, such as where you post this out of context quote... "Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins...finish the sentence Colofornia as shown in the book of Mormon in Jacob 3:4 "Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not aforgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father—that they should have save it were bone wife, and cconcubines they should have none, and there should not be dwhoredoms committed among them.

Why don't you people actually READ the Book of Mormon before presuming to twist its teachings or pronounce it a racist document, an interesting charge coming from some Protestant faiths than maintain segregated white and black congregations in some parts of the South. If you did read the Book of Mormon, you'd read over and over about God and Christ telling of their love for the dark skinned Lamanite peoples and their restoring them to the Abrahamic blessings in the latter days.

And the Lord and his prophets spent more time excoriating the white skinned peoples of the Book of Mormon than he does the Lamanites. One example from Alma 60: 32 "Behold, can you suppose that the Lord will spare you and come out in judgment against the Lamanites, when it is the tradition of their fathers that has caused their hatred, yea, and it has been redoubled by those who have dissented from us, while your iniquity is for the cause of your love of glory and the vain things of the world?"

Alma 9:24 For behold, the promises of the Lord are extended to the Lamanites, but they are not unto you if ye transgress; for has not the Lord expressly promised and firmly decreed, that if ye will rebel against him that ye shall utterly be destroyed from off the face of the earth?

Alma 9: 16 For there are many promises which are extended to the Lamanites; for it is because of the traditions of their fathers that caused them to remain in their state of ignorance; therefore the Lord will be merciful unto them and prolong their existence in the land.

Again, it would help your credibility if you evidenced any sign of ever having read the Book of Mormon before trashing it.

You could set your watch by mormons who immediately shriek “liar”, “deceiver”, every time the truth is revealed about mormonism.

I’ll resist contradicting your post, since other former mormons will give you the truth.

It will be up to you to actually think instead of having a knee-jerk attack on posters. I hope you do think.

Mr. Dozier's a liar. There's nothing about black Africans, or any other Africans, ANYWHERE in the Book of Mormon

ALL: Notice the qualifier this Mormon puts into her apologetic of racism in the Book of Mormon. Given that Supposed South & Central America didn't have any "Africans" present (well, they didn't have any Jews present either, despite BoM Claims--but that's another issue), MissesBush knows she's on relatively "safe" ground making this claim.

But it's like MissesBush misses the forest thru the trees.

Somehow, she just doesn't understand how somebody reading the Book of Mormon -- and seeing that it condemns the "blackness" of skin -- might somehow conclude that the Mormon god is into condemning black skin color...nevermind that it's a Native American or whoever!

So, sorry...MissesBush...nice try...but I've already highlighted the given Book of Mormon passages in post #1:

Try as you might, your pin doesn't erase this phrase in 2 Nephi 5:21: ...the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them."

And Alma 3:6 claims: And the skins of the Lamanites were DARK, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which WAS A CURSE upon them.

The peoples with the dark skinned are the Lamanites, a people of Hebrewic origin, not African origin

Then, please, MissesBush, go on...tell us all...how is it that whatever skin color you want to assign to these Native Americans -- how is it that their skin color is cursed -- and white is so "delightsome"? (pre-1981 Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 30:6)

Ignoring Africans and African-Americans for the moment, and concentrating only upon Native Americans, please explain this verse for us: "And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites." (3 Nephi 2:15)

Tell us, book of mormon-believing MissesBush...how is "white skin" a curseless skin?

We're waiting...

There is NO evidence of LAMANITES anywhere in AMERICA!

(But that fact does not stop MORMONs from booking archeology tours to Mayan lands!)

Oh?

Like MORMONs read the WOW and come away with the idea that CAFFINE is somehow banned?

Or that they CAN eat meat in the SUMMERTIME?

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 89

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, February 27, 1833. HC 1: 327–329. As a consequence of the early brethren using tobacco in their meetings, the Prophet was led to ponder upon the matter; consequently he inquired of the Lord concerning it. This revelation, known as the Word of Wisdom, was the result. The first three verses were originally written as an inspired introduction and description by the Prophet.

1–9, Use of wine, strong drinks, tobacco, and hot drinks proscribed; 10–17, Herbs, fruits, flesh, and grain are ordained for the use of man and of animals; 18–21, Obedience to gospel law, including the Word of Wisdom, brings temporal and spiritual blessings.

  1 A aWord OF Wisdom, for the benefit of the council of high priests, assembled in Kirtland, and the church, and also the saints in Zion—
  2 To be sent greeting; not by commandment or constraint, but by revelation and the aword of wisdom, showing forth the order and bwill of God in the temporal salvation of all saints in the last days—
  3 Given for a principle with apromise, adapted to the capacity of the bweak and the weakest of all csaints, who are or can be called saints.
  4 Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of aevils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of bconspiring men in the last days, I have cwarned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation—
  5 That inasmuch as any man adrinketh bwine or strong drink among you, behold it is not good, neither meet in the sight of your Father, only in assembling yourselves together to offer up your sacraments before him.
  6 And, behold, this should be wine, yea, apure wine of the grape of the vine, of your own make.
  7 And, again, astrong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies.
  8 And again, tobacco is not for the abody, neither for the belly, and is not good for man, but is an herb for bruises and all sick cattle, to be used with judgment and skill.
  9 And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.
  10 And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome aherbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—
  11 Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with aprudence and bthanksgiving.
  12 Yea, aflesh also of bbeasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used csparingly;
  13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be aused, only in times of winter, or of cold, or bfamine.
  14 All agrain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;
  15 And athese hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger.
  16 All grain is good for the afood of man; as also the bfruit of the vine; that which yieldeth fruit, whether in the ground or above the ground—
  17 Nevertheless, wheat for man, and corn for the ox, and oats for the horse, and rye for the fowls and for swine, and for all beasts of the field, and barley for all useful animals, and for mild drinks, as also other grain.
  18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, ashall receive bhealth in their navel and marrow to their bones;
  19 And shall afind bwisdom and great ctreasures of dknowledge, even hidden treasures;
  20 And shall arun and not be bweary, and shall walk and not faint.
  21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the adestroying angel shall bpass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

Oh?

Why don't SLC mormons OBEY what is found in their 'scriptures'??

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

Brigham Young - JoD 3:266 (July 14, 1855)

Why don't they BELIEVE what their precious Prophet has told them???

Racism
2 NEPHI 5:21 (Book of Mormon)
And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.
And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities.
And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done.
And because of their cursing which was upon them they did become an idle people, full of mischief and subtlety, and did seek in the wilderness for beasts of prey.

“The peoples with the dark skinned are the Lamanites, a people of Hebrewic origin, not African origin.”

Actually the Lamanites are more closely related to Pixies and the Pied Piper as objects of conjuration intended to divert and mislead the credulous and simple minded. The Hebrewics invented decaffinated coffee, and were Accursed by a resounding 87.35% majority of the gods godlets and god seeds to suffer ever after with insipid conversation and joyless gatherings for their sin.
