Bruskewitz: Fight Insurance Ruling [Sebelius a "bitter, fallen away Catholic"]

LINCOLN — Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz has issued a blistering letter calling on Roman Catholics in the Lincoln Diocese to fight a federal decision requiring all employers to provide health insurance that pays for birth control, female sterilization procedures and "the morning after" pill.

U.S. bishops had asked for an exemption from the rule for employers such as Catholic hospitals and social services agencies. That request was denied this month by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, a Catholic.

"The present secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, a bitter fallen-away Catholic, now requires that all insurance, even when issued privately, must carry coverage for evil and grave sin," Bruskewitz wrote in the letter, which he instructed parish priests to read aloud to their congregations at Mass this weekend.

Sebelius is among a number of Catholic politicians in the United States who have been banned from receiving Holy Communion because of their positions on abortion.

She was banned by Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kan., because, as Kansas governor, she vetoed strict anti-abortion legislation that her advisers told her was unconstitutional.

A request for comment from Sebelius' office did not get a response before publication.

Bruskewitz is among bishops across the country who are mobilizing for a fight over the rule.

Archbishop George Lucas of Omaha has written a letter to be distributed to pastors next week, said Deacon Tim McNeil, chancellor of the archdiocese. Priests were asked to read the letter to parishioners or include it in their church bulletins.

The letter will ask Catholics in the Omaha Archdiocese to pray about the issue and to contact their congressional representatives to pass legislation overturning the rule.

"The bishop's letter will state how this order negatively impacts the church in the U.S.,'' McNeil said. "It's a violation of religious liberty and our First.............

In Austin, Our Priest read a letter from our Bishop during the homily on Sunday Mass.

It was quite blistering as well.

A Baptist friend of mine said their Reverend came out against the ruling as well.

I’m thankful our religious leaders are standing up for morality.

and that's what the government wants...."strangle them and they will come"...begging the government to insure them.

True, but here in Maryland, the bishops were all for Obamacare passing. What did they think would happen?

"The letter will ask Catholics in the Omaha Archdiocese to pray about the issue and to contact their congressional representatives to pass legislation overturning the rule."

Dear Bishop,

We already tried that. They ignored us.

Now it's up to you and your fellow Bishops.

EXCOMMUNICATE THEM!

Allowing these followers of Satan to participate in Holy Communion mocks the rest of us who remain faithful.

Careful now!

You might just get labeled as a “terrorist” for opposing the Federal Government.

How is the murder of a fetus to have a better life here on Earth different than entering into a pact with Satan?

How are these innocents any different than those children who were sacrificed to Moloch?

Sebelius needs to be ex-communicated, but so does Pelosi and any other so-called Catholic that is pro-abortion.

Our Bishop Nienstedt did the same and our Pastor read the letter this weekend. It’s time Catholics start voting as a bloc and in line with our beliefs. If so, we become the largest voting bloc in the country.

Our Pittsburgh Rep is Mike Doyle. He was the one who convinced Bart Stupak and his group of "pro-life" Democraps to cave their principles and support Obamacare.

Doyle brags about being a Catholic.

Archbishop Schnurr’s letter (the one I posted the other day) was read after the Gospel Sunday. I’ve emailed Boehner, Brown and Portman. I admit that I’d like to see some more action from the good bishops toward those purportedly Catholic politicians who support and enact this sort of garbage. I guess some of them (the politicians) think they’re doing something useful, and some don’t care (CINOs), but no matter the motivation, Sebelius and the rest are breaking the law of the land.

That a Catholic bishop has IN PRINT named a specific politician and called her a “bitter, fallen-away Catholic” is an enormous step in the right direction. I am rejoicing.

They have already excommunicated themselves by supporting abortion. No need to worry — God knows!

Just as a point of information so everyone knows, Sebelius has been asked to refrain from Communion by her bishop (Abp. Naumann of Kansas City, KS), and the Archbishop of Washington, D.C., has said that she should abide by that while in Washington as well.

It's not, technically, a formal excommunication, but it's more than has been done WRT Pelosi, Biden, etc.
