Rick is an old friend who was there for me when my husband died. He even installed some garage shelving for me when I moved into my condo.
Last week, the pneumonia and bronchitis got him and he was admitted to the hospital. Hospice stepped into the picture and took all the meds away because they thought he was going to die.
They don't know Rick, or should I say they don't know the determination of a Navy Seal that served in Vietnam. He is so determined to live.
But I have a request for prayer for him since he is home. Mostly for his soul so that he will come back to the Church and the Sacraments.
I appreciate your prayers because I know they work, and I don't think my exhortations and prayers alone will convince him to call a priest for the Anointing of the Sick.
I’ve often wondered about all the soldiers and airport personnel exposed to the jet fuel and other fumes.
Think what it’s like on the freeway and multiply it by ????
Actually, couldn’t it affect anyone who worked in an airport that wasn’t air-tight?
While he was in the hospital, they discharged him with the paramaters of a social worker’s visit.
His wife used to work in a nursing home. She knows what to do medically. I think it is because he is a strapping 6’ plus guy and it is difficult for her alone to move him.
Father of mercies, and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We fly unto thee for succour in behalf of this thy servant, here lying under thy hand in great weakness of body. Look graciously upon him, 0 Lord; and the more the outward man decayeth, strengthen him, we beseech thee, so much the more continually with thy grace and Holy Spirit in the inner man. Give him unfeigned repentance for all the errors of his life past, and stedfast faith in thy Son Jesus; that his sins may be done away by thy mercy, and his pardon sealed in heaven, before he go hence, and be no more seen. We know, 0 Lord, that there is no word impossible with thee; and that, if thou wilt, thou canst even yet raise him up, and grant him a longer continuance amongst us: Yet, forasmuch as in all appearance the time of his dissolution draweth near, so fit and prepare him, we beseech thee, against the hour of death, that after his departure hence in peace, and in thy favour, his soul may be received into thine everlasting kingdom, through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, thine only Son, our Lord and Saviour.
Amen.
Prayers up.
Prayers that God continues to stoke his determination.
If they discharged him, he can still get meds. just nothing but nutrition and pain management if he goes the hospice route. See if you can find out what type of pneu and what meds he on.
God bless you, Salvation, and may your friend Rick have the great Grace of Faith soon.

Prayers for Rick’s body and soul and for his family.

Keeping you and yours in my prayers, Salvation.
Prayers sent for your friend. St. Philomena, St. Monica, and St. Dymphna, please pray for Rick, and inspire him to seek a return to the Sacraments. I ask you to ask our Father, in Jesus’ name, to touch Rick’s heart in a special way. Lord, lead him to true discernment of Your will for him. Bless Rick and his family. Amen
