WASHINGTON, D.C. News reporters and editors from around the country were urged to allow members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to define themselves rather than to exclusively look to sources outside the church for definitions of what it means to be a Mormon or to explain LDS doctrine or history.
"Define us by who we are and by our central beliefs rather than who we are not or by obscure or irrelevant beliefs," Michael R. Otterson, managing director of public affairs for the LDS Church, said during a Thursday morning session of a conference called, "Politics and Religion: Getting it Right in 2012."
--snip--
Otterson identified for the journalists what he considered the five most common stereotypes of members of the LDS Church that they are not Christian, that they belong to a cult, that they are insular and secretive, that they are weird and that they practice polygamy.
--snip--
Otterson explained that members of the church are troubled when they are described as not Christian "because that suggests we are not followers of Jesus Christ, and Christ's divinity is a foundational belief in our faith."

And yet you cling to the IDOL that is MORMONism.
WHY?
It's in the TRAINING!!
It's in the 'scripture'!!
The
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 71
Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney Rigdon, at Hiram, Ohio, December 1, 1831. HC 1: 238239. The Prophet had continued to translate the Bible with Sidney Rigdon as his scribe until this revelation was received, at which time it was temporarily laid aside so as to enable them to fulfill the instruction given herein. The brethren were to go forth to preach in order to allay the unfriendly feelings that had developed against the Church as a result of the publication of some newspaper articles by Ezra Booth, who had apostatized.
14, Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon are sent forth to proclaim the gospel; 511, Enemies of the saints shall be confounded.
1 Behold, thus saith the Lord unto you my servants Joseph Smith, Jun., and Sidney Rigdon, that the time has verily come that it is necessary and expedient in me that you should open your mouths in proclaiming my gospel, the things of the kingdom, expounding the mysteries thereof out of the scriptures, according to that portion of Spirit and power which shall be given unto you, even as I will.
2 Verily I say unto you, proclaim unto the world in the regions round about, and in the church also, for the space of a season, even until it shall be made known unto you.
3 Verily this is a mission for a season, which I give unto you.
4 Wherefore, labor ye in my vineyard. Call upon the inhabitants of the earth, and bear record, and prepare the way for the commandments and revelations which are to come.
5 Now, behold this is wisdom; whoso readeth, let him understand and receive also;
6 For unto him that receiveth it shall be given more abundantly, even power.
7 Wherefore, confound your enemies; call upon them to meet you both in public and in private; and inasmuch as ye are faithful their shame shall be made manifest.
8 Wherefore, let them bring forth their strong reasons against the Lord.
9 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto youthere is no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper;
10 And if any man lift his voice against you he shall be confounded in mine own due time.
11 Wherefore, keep my commandments; they are true and faithful. Even so. Amen.

An oft repeated refrain, yet, a peculiar thing happens. None of the mormons have yet to attempt to place these claimed "out of context" quotes into "context".
It's quite peculiar...that the mormon jesus didn't just die, he killed as well.
Millions killed because apparently his blood wasn't enough of a sacrifice to bring redemption to those in the 16+ cities he destroyed.
Why cant you answer a question...
It's quite political; isn't it!
Did you know that our beloved Sandy ran for CONGRESS once?
Words such as "false" "error" "wrong" do not attribute motive.
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
HUH?
Sandy, your deceit is showing out from under your LDS skirt. The quote in post #98 is not taken out of context. It is a clear assertion int he spirit of antichrist. You know it but have chosen totry and deceive readers into thinking that quote is somehow less devilish is read int he context of the utterance. I listed the JD source date and number, why dont you show us how the spirit of antichrist will not be upon the utterance if read in context? Youre supposedly a lawyer, give it a try. BUT if you cannot whitewash the assertion so it is not serving the spirit of antichrist then why not renounce the demonic cult into which youve tossed your immortal soul?
I missed the ‘lie’ part again!
I’m STILL confused!
I mistakenly made it personal, kind of the way SD did in #107.
Now R
You know the prayer about pale ale is right there in the Bible...
its in...
well...
its ...
yeah ...
well...
never mind..
Sandy: I love Him and I wish you would stop saying stuff about my boyfriend that is not true.
Now THAT fits your attitude and whining....
Meanwhile our worship of the LORD Jesus Christ must be a whole other thing from that...
I’ll act shocked...
She did post this:
Repeat: Christs divinity is a foundational belief in our faith.
So what do we take from that?
I guess we need to know what she thinks "divinity" means...
So Sandy, the question still has yet to be answered...
How did that rumor get started anyway? I’ve seen it mentioned several times.
Of course any lawyer being LDS is funny in it's own right. I guess there are schools that don't require the normal logic and reasoning classes...
Standard Mormon phrase is “Jesus is the Christ”. But they never explain WHAT that means to them. The word Christ translated ‘annointed’. They don’t state anything more specific.
Same thing goes when you ask them what Jesus ‘saves’ them from. It is a difficult question for Mormons to answer since their own theology states they must do all they can do and pay Jesus back like he is a loan shark. Now, if they mean that He ‘saves’ them from physical death, then that only means resurrection and that is Universal. In that sense, even Muslims and atheists are ‘saved’ by Jesus’ resurrection.
Quite the quandary.
Sandy, gravely placemarker
Oh; I SEE!
Would you please stop spreading falsehoods about my Savior.
