Mormons don't worship Joseph Smith?

Think again.

Go here:

Look here to see how Mormons substitute Joseph Smith for Jesus Christ this time of year: “Praise To The Man”: A Review Of The Annual Joseph Smith Memorial Sermons [Mormon Merry Smithmas]

From the article: Ours is the song of praise to the man ordained from eternity past to part the veil and open the heavens..." - Joseph Fielding McConkie

From Joseph Smith himself, as quoted in the article: He will make me be god to you in His stead...

Read #21 in the article for the words to a worship hymn sung to Joseph Smith..."Kings shall extol him and nations revere" (I thought Jesus Christ was to be worshiped -- not Joseph Smith!)...one of the lines is "Mingling with gods" (Don't tell me Mormons aren't polytheists!)

Joseph Smith quote from the article: “The Prophet’s Effectiveness – I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet. (HC 6:408-9.)”

Of course they do. Anyone reading the words of their own leaders and “sacred” writings is either a liar or in denial.

So, as this is similar to the you did yesterday, I'm guessing we can look forward to these daily “Smithmas” posts from you... in a similar vein that you cranked out so many haunted/ghost/evil related Mormon threads leading up to Halloween.

Tis the season for love and sharing and peace on earth. How sweet of you. /sarc

Based on what you have posted Joseph Smith was supposed to be the reincarnation or second coming of Jesus? Since he was born, lived and died what do the Morons do now Smith is gone? Wait for his return?

“Smithmas”? A saint’s first name is normally used for his feast day, as in Michaelmas and Martinmas for St. Michael and St. Martin, respectively, so shouldn’t it be “Josephmas”? In any case, I understand your point.

As to the makeup of families, Elder Hartman Rector Jr., a convert to the Church, quipped: “My wife and I had two children at the time the elders knocked on the door, and we were expecting our third, and that was all that we were going to have. That was one for me, one for my wife, and one unplanned; then we found out why we are here. Now we have seven, and expecting another. Joseph Smith is responsible for five of my children.”

Hartman Rector Jr., “The Prophet Joseph Smith,” transcript, Logan institute, 1972, 3.

Then I hope Joseph Smith is supporting them and not the taxpayers...

They’re just buttering up old Joe for when they stand before him he will see how they “worshiped” him and he will let them into heaven. ;-D

When I was LDS, I would have said what we often hear here that Mormons don’t worship Joseph Smith. However, after I left, and became a real Christian, I started to see just how much devotion is given to Smith and how it really is worship.

Mormons themselves will often say they only worship God the Father not Jesus Christ (see McConkie also) but they fail to realize that Smith is mentioned and shown devotion FAR more than Christ ever is - all the way down to the Joseph Smith nativity at BYU.

Mormons don’t see that they worship Smith, just like they don’t see that they claim a false Christ. They are spiritually blind above all else.
