They say that they killed Joseph, and they will yet come with their hats under their arms and bend to him; but what good will it do them, unless they repent?

They can come in a certain way and find favor, but will they?

I hadn't thought of that before.

Interesting spiritual psycho-analysis. And probably spot on; I just can't say for certain 'cause I don't know individual Mormons' motives for Smith veneration.

Certainly, for those who believe what other Lds leaders have taught -- that they need Smith's consent to enter (celestial) heaven -- I'd say that would be a "butter up" motivator if there e'er was one.

Interesting how Mormons replace the Subject of John 14:6 (Jesus) with both "Consenter" Smith and the Mormon church (Lds first President Marion Romney called the Mormon church "the way, the truth, and the life").
